kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

hi JEllen smiley - smiley

i just rewatched 'the english patient' the other day. i've seen it a few times and it still bears watching. ralph fiennes is good. i'm thinking of seeing what else he has been doing. the only other thing i remember is 'the end of the affair' which was very good too. it'd be interesting to see him play a totally different kind of character though. any suggestions?

i'm a fan of robert carlyle's work. i'm currently trying to rent vids of things i haven't seen, even if it wasn't a movie i would normally watch, just so i can see his acting style change. i just watched 'ravenous' which was gruesome, but his acting was fantastic.

your page is looking good btw smiley - ok

I can indeed recommend more Ralph Fiennes. He plays a Nazi you love to hate in Schindler's List. (A supporting role but a pretty big part) And he plays a contestant in Quiz Show. (The lead in this one.) These movies are fun to watch back to back, because his performances are so totally different, it's hard to believe it is the same person. That's why I love Fiennes, he is a total chameleon. He's also in Maid in Manhatten, as the romantic lead - I haven't seen that one yet because it got so-so reviews. Don't bother to watch him in The Avengers - a totally pointless movie. Oh yes, I almost forgot, he plays a disturbed killer in Red Dragon. Last but not least, he gives an interesting performance in Strange Days, a futuristic thriller with some very graphic violence in it.

thanks Ellen

i'd forgotten about the avengers, which is probably just as well!

i'm pretty sure i've seen quiz show too, but a long time ago if its the one i'm thinking of. i probably wouldn't have known who ralph fiennes was then. did robert redford direct that ?

i've been avoiding shindler's list as too heavy. but good idea to watch it back to back with something else that fiennes is in. i haven't heard of the others you mention - will have a look in the vid store.
