Let's have a snappier introduction
I thought I would revise this a bit as I have been away from the Guide for a while and thought some more complete info about myself might be in order. My name is Michael, and I live just outside of the Seattle area. I haven't as yet rusted shut from rain or anything, but there are stretches where the sun is more of a distant memory instead of a present reality. Other than that, I like it fine.
Mickfoil comes from the slang for Irishman (I'm 4th generation Irish American) and foil, a fencing weapon, because I do fence, among other things. I choreograph sword fights for stage productions on the side (small scale right now: high school, community college in addition to some community theatre work - wouldn't mind larger gigs, though). I love fencing, silent movies, Patrick O'Brian novels, so on and so forth. I could get into more detail, but I won't just yet as I don't want to eat up a whole bunch of space.
I married a wonderful woman, Breon, 8 years ago, and we have conspired (to the frustration of our insistent parents) to remain childless for the moment.
I'm really happy to be a part of the Guide community, and I can't wait to meet more of you as I explore more consistently. (I'm a terrible letter writer, and sometimes it's not always easy to check back on the Guide while at work).
