Since we've already been chatting I'll just say should you need anything myself and all of the ACEs (and other groups) here at h2g2 would be delighted to assist.
Will you be updating your page with some information about yourself or are you staying enigmatic?

Things are normalizing.. as much as possible considering the circumstances anyway. Much of life is resuming, which helps quite a bit.
Even with things getting back to "normal" I am looking forward to visiting my mother in a couple of weeks and getting away from it all. It will also go a long way toward making my mother a bit more calm. This really shook her up, even though I called her immediately to tell her I was not near the WTC at the time. I think a week of she and I just hanging around together will do her a world of good.
Where are you located anyway?

well I hope things start get back to normal,,,what happed was really terrible and am sure it has left some emotional scares esp on those livin in the NYC area. I know this because I have been through an invasion of my coutnry when I was 18yrs old.
You should spend time with your mom, she ll feel much better when you are there with her.
although am not American, but I am really saddend by what happend, its making think bout life and world in a different way, I hope that good will come of this, I think that each one of us should try to make the best out of the worest..
anyways, happy to hear that ur life is returning to normal..
my best regards to your family
am in Kuwait
Peace^^Jstice

I'm certain there will be many emotional scars. As there were in Oklahoma City. I lived in Oklahoma at the time that happened and witnessed some of the emotional damage first-hand.
There is so much tragedy in the world today I think sometimes there is nobody left untouched by it. Somehow it touches all. I remember watching a program about Afghanistan a few weeks before this happened and being moved to by what the people there are going through.
I am very much looking forward to spending a week with my mother and just spending time together. This will probably involve a great deal of cooking (something we enjoy doing together) which will in turn involve a lot of music and dancing and laughing like fools.
I'm curious of something. I know that the Hitchhikers Guide has been translated into many languages. Was it translated into Arabic? I'm assuming it is Arabic you speak primarily since I don't believe I know anyone from Kuwait, other than you. Or did you read it in another language? Or if you haven't read it how did you come to h2g2?

You are right! no one is left without scares, thats why we must join forces, we must oppress our hates and fears, and be more humans , that is the most important thing we can do, and speak out for the oppressed and the hurt, and try to find common grounds between all of us, regardless of our backgrounds. I am sure of it, but hate is powerful emotion, and conquering takes lots of courage.
Cooking is a really great...I know in the US people can cook lots of different things there, coz of their interactions with different people from different backgrounds. Dancing and Laughter will help a lot, that makes us feel that life is great and that humans are good Its really great. Sure you will enjoy it a lot with your mother, she will too ! are you her only daughter?
I don't know if the hitchhikers community is translated to Arabic (I ll try to find out) I found it
I came across it by trying to find out a decent message boards where people were discussing the terrible events on Sept 11 01. So I checked the BBC site, and found it there....
very interesting place for sure, I can't believe how much I have learned in such short time.

In answer to your question I was the youngest of three children, however both my brother and sister have died. My mother and I were always very close but because of this we are much closer. And because of this she gets very worried about me. Needless to say I spend a great deal of money flying to visit her as often as I am able.
Since you happened upon the site, I'll explain a bit about it to you. It's patterned after a book called Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (hence h2g2). The book was written as a satire of science fiction by an author named Douglas Adams. His welcome to the site is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome-DNA and there are links to his own website there. Very interesting man.
You would enjoy the book if you like comedy. It also helps to like Science Fiction, but it's not necessary. Douglas Adams has written quite a few books, however the Hitchhikers Guide series is what really made him famous. It started as a radio show on BBC and grew from there.
I've found that while the books are comedic in nature they address some very interesting points. In any case, the site is patterned after the electronic guide the characters in the story use. If you get a chance to read the books it might explain certain eccentricities of many of the members.
I'm glad you're enjoying the community. Like any, we occasionally have problems and also like any, we try to solve them as best we can. I find the site is a wonderful place to learn from people all over the world and in learning we come to understand each other. Hopefully this will one day make the world community a more peaceful place.
Welcome again new friend. Tell me a bit about yourself. Also, if I can help you with anything or if you just wish to chat please don't hesitate to contact me via my page (clicking my name above) or by simply responding to this message.

Batty,
I ll try to find the book here. I like both Science fiction and comedy. sounds like it will make for a great reading
the site is indeed a wonderful place, a great place to exchange ideas with people in here
well, as for myself: am the eldest on 6brothers&sisters, lived in the US for several years in the San Francisco. I have been back in Kuwait for two years. I have been to NYC, great city, but I personally like SF more.
I have been here in Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion. And I really can feel the pains and the terror that was brought upon Americans by these horrible incidents, especially that I have spent a good portion of my life in the US, and although I am not an American, I feel its my second home .

I think you would like the book, and others by DNA. He is one of the few authors I enjoy re-reading. I read a great deal but very few books are interesting after you've already read them once.
I used to spend a great deal of time in SF. It is one of my favorite cities in the US. I was offered a job there a few months ago but opted to stay in NYC because it's a shorter flight to Europe, where some of my family lives. Plus it's also nice since my mother recently moved and is now closer to NYC.
I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like in Kuwait during the invasion. Even with what happened at the WTC it still feels fairly safe here (all things considered). I can't imagine it felt in the least bit safe in Kuwait during the invasion.
I've never been to Kuwait or the region. I would like to see it one day though. When we learn that it's the differences that make our so wonderful.
The closest I've been (at this point anyway) is Morocco. I do remember that when I arrived in my hotel room in Marrakech and threw open the balcony doors the call to prayer (is that the correct term) was ringing across the gardens and I could see the minaret from across the tops of the trees. I just sat there mesmerized by it . It's one of my fondest memories from my travels.
