Sundays

Certain milestones pass each of us. Today's was the successful fabrication of beef stew in a microwave oven - from scratch. These often happen on Sunday. Life, for its own peculiar reasons seems prone to deprive the writer of certain elements that many people take for granted – conventional stoves and televisions appear to be quite high on the list – and life does this for its own reasons. It does, however, lead to some interesting discoveries, like microwave stew.

Microwave popcorn was discovered trying to kill a scorpion that had taken up residence in a glass bowl that had heretofore only served to store unpopped popcorn. As is well known, microwaves are great tools for killing scorpions – that they actually pop popcorn whilst doing so is a valuable added bonus. Separating the bits of scorpion from the popcorn is the tricky part – so if anyone knows how it can be efficiently done, there may always be a next time.
