Hmm...on the credits on S2, I'm sure it was always just Dylan's name...

...the best thing to do would be to check all the episodes!

Ah Ha!
looking on the channel 4 website on

I found episode run downs for series one and two (just click on the red links) and this includes who wrote each episode....

I couldn't get on that site for days, it just kept crashing on me! But thanks for the tip, I might get cracking on the episode guide soon

bizarre! That site was fine for me today (which is unusual).
*remembers previous incident* once upon a time, when I was new to internet usage, I wanted to find a site on Channel 4 so I typed what I thought was the right address - channelfour.com. I was most horrified to discover much porn that I couldn't get out of. EeeK!
Anyway, we grow and learn

I remember those early days too well, when I signed up for absolutely anything. I still get emails asking me if I'd like to enlarge my willy and if I'd like some Viagra, lol!

Frothblower (formerly Kazak, trying out a new name for size) Posted Apr 20, 2002
Hi, I was just casually lurking nearby when I overheard. 'Black Books' is certainly among the most brilliant TV programmes ever made, and will remain a classic. I've loved it from the first episode, as have all my family. My favourite episode (it's hard to pick just one) is where Manny overdoes the caffeine and accidentally ends up being a police detective.

Fantastic!
I loved the first episode, the Mormons being dragged into the shop and Bernard teaching them about Jesus, haha!

I just wanted to say, sorry I haven't been in contact for a while! Suddenly things became mad and I have spent free time over the past few weeks contacting builders, insurance companies and solicitors a lot. However, this shenanigans should all now be sorted! I am back on board. What's the progress of the entry? Do you think it may be a good idea to buzz the person who wrote the other version which hasn't been edited yet and see if we can climb aboard?!

I, too, watch Black Books. The first episode of the first series has to be one of the best pilot episodes for a comedy ever. Usually you have to wait a few episodes before the characters do anything funny, but this was class. The result of Bill Bailey swallowing the little book of calm. Black making a coat out of his receipts. Black inviting Jehova witnesses in for a chat. The Witnesses seeing Bill Bailey as Jesus.
Another episode that I really enjoyed was when Bill Bailey (you notice that I can't quite remember character's names particularly well - Dell Boy and who?) discovers that he can play the piano.

Bill Bailey played Manny.
That was a brilliant episode! When he's hiding in the piano, playing the strings with spoons, and all those guys raving over Bernard and Fran was absolutely fantastic

Mister Matty Posted Jul 16, 2002
"That was a brilliant episode!"
hee, hee. The episode where Fran is desperate to learn the piano via her scary Piano teacher and Manny picks it up in seconds

That piano teacher was dead scarey. Where did they find him I wonder?
Still, one of my favourite bits is the wine ice-lolly. I may try that to today as its so luverly and warm here!

Hello one hello all.
I'm "the person who wrote the other version which hasn't been edited yet". I apologise for my month long absence, i had no idea you were all here plotting an article when i stormed through and wrote half of it then abandoned it for a month. I have now attempted to finsih it (707816) and have done all the episode guides. Now i am moving on to quotes. I've written some of the ones in this thread already, but please, everyone, add more. I'm adding the names of everyone who contributes so it is now a collaberative entry

I've had a look at this and it seems people have everything covered really. The only thing I think I could add to would be the memorable quotes bit and perhaps enlarge the initial paragraph....
