Hi Spelugx,
very much for editing my Bujold article. It really cheered me up after an awful day yesterday to see that it had reached the "pending" stage.
However, I think that in the sentence about Miles "...one theory of assent puts him in line for the throne", "theory of descent" made more sense, since it is discussing the rules by which the Imperium descends through the generations. (E.g. if men can inherit the throne through their mothers, then Miles' father would be first in line, and he refers to this as a "false theory of descent" in one book.) Perhaps "theory of ascent" with a C (theory of who has the right to ascend to the throne) but definitely not "assent" with two S's as it is now.
Ekaterin.

Yeah, I was aiming for ascent, but my typing fouled that up; we really need subeditors for the subeditors sometimes .
I didn't realise it was refered to as 'descent' in the book, but I chose 'ascent' since normally we would say that someone ascends to a throne, rather than descends. (Talking from the people's perspective rather than that of the kingship.)
I'll email the italics in a moment, and ask them for a quick change.

They've changed it now. I asked for it to be put back to 'descent'.
