Vicki Virago - Proud Mother

....I was most intruiged to come across you!

Not overly keen on thrash, although Iron Maiden isn't all that bad....prefer the softer rock option myself, but each to their own..!

I've seen Guns N Roses in concert (twice), who were supported by Thunder, Skid Row and a few others....

Bon Jovi (twice, I think) Meatloaf, Extreme, Black Crows, Aerosmith and a few others who escape me right now....

Anyway - do you ride a bike?

The Iron Maiden

Sadly, I have all the proper apparel for a bike (leather jacket and ballcrushingly tight jeans smiley - angel) but no actual bike. I don't even have my driver's liscence yet, or even a provisional. It's sad! Bikes are so cool, but for me it's more of a look on in awe, nod and smile kind of thing. I don't know anything about bikes so it's nice to have a mystique about it - if the engine roars loud and proud and it looks good then it must be cool!

Hair Metal is very cool. I almost saw Guns N Roses a few years back, but of course Axl cancelled and the gig was resheduled for when we had exams. Luckily that was cancelled too else I would've been bitter. Course, we know that the new GnR ain't the real GnFnRs, but at least it's something. When did you see 'em?
Skid Row totally rock. Whitesnake are awesome, both the classic stuff and the Hair stuff. Scorpions had some cool tunes at that time, as did Def Leppard. Poison - totally cool. Hell, Judas Priest managed to beautify themselves and still put out a classic album!

ohhhh Guns 'n' Roses, Maiden, Thunder and the Black Crowes... wow, you could be me.

so perhaps I may butt in on your convo?

I've seen Maiden about 4 times, once was the 1988 gig at Donnington when sadly 2 guys were crushed to death during the Guns 'n' Roses set. smiley - sadface

I saw Thunder in this tiny tiny little place in Bochum, my ears have never been the same since. They were fab.

As for the Black Crowes, well they may have gone off the boil live wise, or I could have got them on a bad day. About 2 years ago I thought i'd died and gone to heaven when the hubs sprang a surprise Niel Young gig on me. Nearly had a heart attack to find out that the Black Crowes were the support. But the silly noodles did all stuff of their new album, so we didn't really get a chance to rock out. They did Remedy, but didn't do Sting Me - which probably would have killed me - it's awesome live.

Oh, sorry, waffling again.

By all means butt in!

I don't know the Black Crowes, but Neil Young...I caught The Needle And The Damage Done on VH1 the other week, and it struck I chord cos I just got this thing about hating drugs and people who use them for any reason, so I took notice and sure as hell enjoyed it. I checked out Nick Drake the other night, Been Smoking Too Much = good stuff. Sadly I ended up decking the guy who was playing it to me but he deserved it.

Uber respect for being at Donington '88. Damn you, I wish I'd been born 10 years earlier sometime! I caught 'em at last year's Donnington (though it's called Download now and mostly has just gay bands playing), they were absolutely on fire. Definately one of their best shows that I've seen.

That Donnington was absolutely fantastic. I got the ticket from my mum. It was a pressie for my bro, but she got a pair so she could take him. In the event she couldn't go for some reason, so I went. Me, my brother and 6 of my mum's mates. smiley - erm

and out of 107,000 people we ended sitting up to someone I used to know in the Army and had lost touch with. He'd taken his neighbour's son just to see Guns 'n' Roses.

The Black Crowes probably aren't heavy enough for you, but worth checking out anyway, they really rock. Neil Young, however, is one of the Rock Gods and everyone should listen to him. The Needle & The Damage Done is my favourite track by him. Followed by him and Pearl Jam doing Freedom.

Nicely done on the Donington front! smiley - cool we had something like that happen last your too. Kid from my school waddled up to us out of the crowd inbetween Chimeria and Arch Enemy was chirps "Didn't expect to see you lads here!". We freaked out just a little tad, and kept finding him by accident throughout the day, which was cool *^_^*

Dunno when I'd get a chance to listen to Black Crowes...now I think about it, I might have a song stashed amongst those CDs you get freebie on magazines...but those damn things are impossible to hunt down amongst the mess...

Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me!

If any of you are on the way to Donington in the future and you need a place to crash - let me know, it's only 12 miles up the road from my house!!

Iron Maiden, check out Remedy - it's a fantastic song, in fact the whole of the album is pretty smiley - cool I think it's called the Southern Harmony and Music Companion, or something weird like that.

Vicki,

Did you know that I'd got a ZRX 1200. I know I went on about one for ages and I finally found one a couple of years back. It's been ages since we spoke, I thought I'd mention it.

I was surprised to hear that there is still something going on at Donnnigton these days.

Some of my workmates went to the Rock am Ring this year and I was pretty miffed that I couldn't join in, becaue Maiden headlined. I'm 20 years older than the people who went - they were totally surprised not only that I'd heard of Maiden, but that I've "been there" so often. Next year...I'll get my mum over to mind the Gruesome Twosome and try to recapture my youth.

And strange and that this convo came up today. I introduced someone to the Black Crowes yesterday, and she has called me today to say she's just bought their back catalogue. For Amorica she could have saved her money.

There's lots of smiley - ghost things that go on around here.

When I was at the London Meet last weekend, I was having a conversation with AGB, two of the subjects mentioned came up in the quiz....

How smiley - ghost is that?

Someone else told me that. They obviously haven't met me in the flesh, else they'd be starting a thread smiley - biggrin
