I'm looking shockingly like a health freak today. I didn't have time after finishing my shift at the hospital to go home by bus as I have a dance practice this evening, so instead I got changed out of my uniform into my jogging bottoms and trainers and came to college to waste the couple of hours before the practice. I realised that dressed like this I couldn't get any old junk food for dinner so I had to pay an extortionate price for a jacket spud and salad. The sooner I can get home and have some alcohol the better. double I don't even have any chocolate in the house.
I had one of those meaningful, symbolic dreams the other night. I dreamt I had got a job in a shoe shop. It was my second day there and it was awful. I hated it. All my childhood dreams have been dashed but I guess maybe I'm better off doing nursing - for now
I'm wearing a I'm going to be dancing out for the first time on St George's Day and then it's not long until May Weekend I'm getting really excited. I love May Day celebrations.
A few handy tips for being a DFL:
1. Ask really daft questions like, 'Can you tell me where the beach is?' Doesn't sound that daft so it's best to ask it while almost next to the beach.
2. Dress in a smart sporty/smart casual look. Blue and white stripes and chunky knit jumpers will add to the effect. Sailing jacket and deck shoes will score extra points.
3. Eat in a certain restaurant that I can't name but that all DFLs eat in and most locals avoid, particularly as it would rather not have locals lowering the tone by not wearing nautical apperiel.
4. Go into a local pub and ask very loudly, 'Does anyone own the Ferrari that has blocked in my Jag?'
The best comment I heard was from a tourist, but I doubt a DFL. They sat looking across the sea at the island, trying to decide which island it was. After some thought they decided it was the Isle Of Wight!
Keep up the training. Next week I expect you to be able to keep pace with the old ladies!

Hi Deackie!
How are you?
Now that the weather's nice I'm going to do a coastal trip or two. I'll memorise your list of DFL tips so that I'll fit in properly. The one about the Ferrari and the Jag should really confuse the locals since I'd certainly travel by train.
I finished the Marathon! Barely. I think I might have even gotten a better time than a few of the old ladies. Although around the 22nd mile a lot of costumed runners passed me. I knew I'd really slowed down when the pantomime horse and the guy in the rhinoceros costume whizzed past. At least I beat the guy in the deep sea diving suit. He's not expected to finish until Friday!
Afterwards I went to the pub and had to celebrate. The next day I could barely get out of bed.
I'll write a journal entry about the whole experience.
I'm having a barbeque at my place next Sunday. If you're interested in a day trip to the big city, drop me an email at [email protected] .
How's the dancing?

Congratulations I had the telly on before I went to my Sunday dance practice and was cheering you on. I couldn't find you in the crowd though I look forward to reading the journal entry. My friend is doing the walk next Sunday. The rate the chap in the diving suit is going she may overtake him.
The dancing is going well thanks, although I seem to ache more each week. I've discovered the best remedy is It worked wonders last night. I'll be dancing out for the first time next week on St George's day and not long now until May weekend Someone suggested that we do a sponsered dance rather than a sponsered walk and dance over a long distance I've yet to find out what the mile dance through the town and up the hill is like yet.
Thanks for the offer but I'm working the weekend. I'll drop you an e-mail though as I'm not on h2g2 very often at the moment and I check my e-mail slightly more regularly.

Hey Deackie!
As you can tell I've been a slack b*****d.
But I finally put up the journal entry about the Marathon. Thanks for cheering me on. Even though I wasn't aware of it, I'm sure it inspired me to run a little faster and a little further.
How was your friend's walk?
Best remedy is ? I could have told you that! Did you dance for St. George's Day and for May Day?
Anyway... I'll keep this short. I just wrote that journal entry and now I feel a bit guilty for wasting so much time when I should be working.
