Zarquon's Singing Fish!

I've been asked to teach a 10 week course on Saturdays starting mid-July 2 hours a week for Sure Start. I think this will be only the second time I've ever been paid for teaching it - the first time was for a single event, which I taught qigong as opposed to t'ai chi. This time, I'll do both. Apparently, I was recommended by our sports department.

I think that all the participants will be parents of children under four - they probably really need to learn to relax.

During my last qigong session at work, I remembered a sequence my teacher taught me where you raise your arms slighly out of sequence a bit like semaphore - don't know if you know the one. It's perfectly impossible to to this correctly and to think about something else at the same time.

(It's the one where you raise the right arm to shoulder height, then above your head, then out to the side, then down by your side and repeat, while doing the same with the left hand one movement behind.)

It sounds like one of the 'Crane' moves. Be very careful that they stand far enough apart, or concusions may result! smiley - laugh

I don't think it is a Crane move. It's definitely a co-ordination exercise.

Actually the ones I am always careful of include the second move of the t'ai chi qigong and the rotating flywheel (which I always think of as 'windmills') - I used to have a 6'5" participant who was definitely like a windmill in action.smiley - biggrin He was such a lovely chap (any my manager!), who came every week, until he took early retirement and left.

Hi, smiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

My son did t'ai chi a few years ago and found it very relaxing. I have suggested he gives it another go, but he works such long, unsocial hours it would be difficult.

How is your third mishap progressing? I hope you are feeling better again and can enjoy your teaching.

Are you enjoying your car?

HI Websailorsmiley - dragon

I've taught t'ai chi for six years at work, although these days I do mainly qigong, as people don't want to practice, and t'ai chi definitely needs practice for people to improve.

The minimum you need to do each day is about 5 minutes - could your son manage that? Of course, that pre-supposes that he can remember the moves. You're probably talking about difficulty in getting to classes? It's difficult to learn the basic form from a video/DVD, but he could learn qigong from one - that might be a possibility.

My little finger is still black. The root is now pink, which is a good sign and the end is still sore. The bit under the nail is black and hard, and feels likee another nail. It's still sore. It will be interesting to see how this heals.

Am I still enjoying my car? Yes. Mind you, we went to the motor show at Canary Wharf last week and I drooled over the Bentley Continental GT. This has a good picture: http://www.classicdriver.com/upload/classicinside/archive/CIUK2003-43.htm and this has a great write-up http://www.rac.co.uk/web/carbuying/car_reviews/search_manufacturer?page=3&reviewID=1003771smiley - wow - mind you - the asking price ... £115k smiley - yikes Sitting in it was a real dream. smiley - cool

ZSF, I'll mention your thoughts to my son next time I see him, whenever that is!!

I am afraid cars don't turn me on - and if I had that sort of money I can think of a million things I would rather have smiley - rofl Still I suppose if I won the Lottery I might think differently.

I gather it is a big one this week? Mind, here's a thought, I would need to buy a ticket to win wouldn't I? and I have never bought onesmiley - rofl

In practice, if I had the money to buy a Bentley Continental GT (£115,000), I would spend it on other things unless the condition of getting the car was that I couldn't spend the money on anything else and the insurance and petrol bills were paid for. Still, it's nice to dream - the car was *really* brilliant and the feeling of being able to drive in this is a great one.

I don't get lottery tickets either, so I haven't the chance of winning one - I did use to be in a syndicate, however never won anything like enough to cover the cost of the fee. It was one of those systems that if you introduce four other people to it, it would cover the cost of the fee, however I'm not really a saleswoman, so I didn't ever mention it to anyone.

Gave my third class today. Three new people, so I had to do more or less two separate classes. They are really a lovely bunch, though. I'm not sure that the second lot are going to catch up with the first. We'll see. I'm told the mother of one of the first lot is going to join next week as a newcomer. It's going to be interesting. smiley - zen
