It's great that music has the ability to take us into that kind of space, though. I don't know the pieces you mention, tonsil. Do they lose their affect after a while, or are they always great?

Mornin' Z
Thanks for the list of books on qigong... I'll look for them.
I'll also look for a local class, keep your fingers crossed for me please as it may be a bit tricky to find one close enough.

Look out for a t'ai chi class, Prideth - mostly you'll find they do qigong as well. I'd never heard of qigong when I first started going. Later on I found I enjoyed it as much if not more than the t'ai chi. It can be very elegant as well as relaxing.

I'll look out for t'ai chi classes
I know, isn't it wonderful...
I can't believe it, my first entry, and it ends up being Editor's Choice....
Who'd a thunk it? *lol* It's great news for the otters, which is why I wrote it
Hopefully.....
....that means more otternuts out there
Thanks Z

...didn't realise it would be on Front Page, as the congrats e-mail I got didn't say that, only said it'd been approved.
I thought that meant it'd go on a waiting list or somat. What a surprise when I found it there!

I think that more entries will end up being on the front page as there are fewer chosen by each scout. My last one was Editor's Choice as well - a big surprise as I didn't think it would be, however I thought I had a good chance of the previous one being - and it wasn't. You never can tell. It's a great accolade, though!
As the person who chose the entry, it reflects on me too, so I'm doubly pleased for you!
Running very late today - had a rough night - little is only just up - we should be in school by now! Well, breakfast club.
Let me know how you get on finding a t'ai chi group or qigong class.

My first and only Guide Entry went to the front page, also.
It was also scouted by Zarquon's .
"How's your singing voice?"
I don't know. I often don't hear sound the way other people do.
Uvula says I'm usually flat. I don't know how she can tell as I'm usually doing a cartoon voice.
"It's great that music has the ability to take us into that kind of space, though. I don't know the pieces you mention, tonsil. Do they lose their affect after a while, or are they always great?"
Since music is a part of my life, many groups and songs are attached to times in my life. Hearing the song or the band often brings back intense sensory memories of those other times. Of course, since I tend to listen to the same albums or songs over and over until I get sick of them, even when the stereo isn't playing, there is almost always music in my head. Often the one song I didn't want to remember.
Occasionally I'll be playing a song on the tape in the vehicle and it will go to the guitar solo and I will sing that. Uvula has often been amazed. One particularly memorable incident was in the HEB parking lot last year. The tape was playing "Muffin Man" from Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart's "Bongo Fury", recorded live at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin back in 1976. I sang that solo note for note and she sat there in amazement.
Then she said,"Pity you can't make any money doing that... Why don't you learn something useful, like carpentry..."
This from a woman who can sing harmony to practically anything. And works as a nurse.
My guitar "playing" rarely enters the realm of acceptable "music". Most of my twenty-odd year experiences with the guitar have involved a conversation between me and the instrument, one that unfortunately leaves most people out.

Hi Prideth ! I love my job as a scout. I get to meet all kinds of interesting people, watch some real humdingers of disagreements (mostly on entries about God, funnily enough) and encourage new researchers.
And it's great to hear how pleased you are. Today's front page also has one of my recommendations: A1283159.
Hi TR!
Have you ever heard yourself sing on a tape? Most people's voices sound much richer to themselves than when they hear them on tape, partly because of the sound box effect that the head has.
I have a funny habit (you may have it too) of bringing songs to mind when I hear certain phrases. I don't try to make the connections - they just come. Sometimes the songs I'm hearing in my head tell me about what's going on in my life. For instance, before I got divorced (well before I knew about my husband having his affair), I started singing folk songs about women who have been betrayed. So at some unconscious level, I must have known that something was going on.
Has Uvula a great singing voice then? How did you feel when she said that?
I've had a song in my head for ages, I think it's Roy's doing as he sings it a log 'Banner Man' - I forget who sang it.
So, your guitar playing is like Lister's in Red Dwarf, then?
Found this site and thought I would share it:

and Tonsil Revenge
Z
! What a wonderfully ecclectic collection of entries you've picked. I've really enjoyed reading them
I suppose God as a subject is always going to be controversial I've read some of the toing and froing about the subject myself here on h2g2
TR I can't honestly say that Yoko Ono is my favourite person, but your entry did her a lot of justice. As you say, she's been given a really tough time of it in the media and elsewhere over the years, so I suppose it's only natural that it's going to affect her. I enjoyed your style of writing too

Morning, Prideth and tonsil
.
That's the great thing about h2g2. I've submitted entries on a fairly eclectic selection of subjects, too - but not on God - close, though - I've done a couple on meditation techniques.
I loved the entry on Yoko Ono, too. It made me think about her - I always realised that she was a more complex person than the other Beatles wives. And I like the style, too!

Mornin' Z and tonsil
*imagine* (no pun intended
) spelling "eclectic" incorrectly
On Yoko Ono, as in the case of most celebrities, I must admit, I don't tend to read much about the person themselves. I just appreciate or not as the case may be, what their particular talent is. I'm always afraid that their personality will put me off appreciating their abilities. Which has happened on occasion. It has, of course, also worked the opposite way sometimes, and actually made me admire the person even more
Prideth, , who's got writer's block

No need to be ashames, Prideth
I wouldn't have taken offence even if I thought you were saying I couldn't spell it - which I didn't. Everyone has the right to screw up occasionally, as it was only a tiny mistake!
My TS Mercury entry isn't going anywhere at the moment, not through lack of interest, but lack of time.
What's causing your writer's block - and what were you (or are you) working on?
I think in Yoko Ono's case, she is more interesting than her music or her art!

I'll look forward to reading your TS Mercury entry once you've had enough time to complete it
It's my entry on the water vole, A2018413 "Storm in the Willows" for poor Ratty, that I've got the block with . I kinda know what I want it to be like, and I've done *loads* of research, got tons of material to use, but
I just can't seem to get going on it again. It's so frustrating
