Hi Danny,

As Sam said the other day, I practically gnawed his leg off to be able to sub your entry. Got a question for you - in the second part, in the intro to Diamonds are Forever, who's talking to Bond where he says 'We do function in your absence, Commander'?

We've got a format for these type of quotes, so I just thought, where it won't spoil the point of the quote, that I'd add the speaker in (have a look at A817797, by the way).

We're fully allocated for 'Editors' pick right into October now, but I'm angling to get the first or last part of this entry to coincide with Dr No's original release date (and the 40th anniversary) as possible... and maybe a pic (no promises though!).

Jims

Good question!

I doubt the character was given a name. Just a random blonde/Russian spy/cheap Bond girl/all of the above smiley - winkeye

smiley - biggrin No worries Danniy.

Some more for you:

'For Your Eyes Only' - when Bond said 'Forgive me Father, for I have sinned', who replied 'That's putting it mildly, 007.' ?

'Licence to Kill'
Who says 'He was married once... but that was a long time ago'?

'Goldeneye'
Who asks him 'How do you take it?'

'Tomorrow Never Dies'
'Wait... I'm just a professional doing a job.' Was this the banker from the opening sequence? What was his name?

TWINE
I'm guessing the 'I could have given you the world' quote is from Elektra?

> 'Licence to Kill'
> Who says 'He was married once... but that was a long time ago'?

Felix Leiter.

> 'Goldeneye'
> Who asks him 'How do you take it?'

Bond asks Xenia Onatopp 'How do you take it'. She replies, 'straight up, with a twist'.

> 'Tomorrow Never Dies'
> 'Wait... I'm just a professional doing a job.' Was this the banker

Dr Kaufmann (The 'banker' opening sequence is from TWINE...)

TWINE
I'm guessing the 'I could have given you the world' quote is from Elektra?

That was the only one I was a bit nervous of. Glad you liked it.

I'm leaving the office in a mo (I *know*, leaving before 10pm!) and won't be online over the weekend (even MORE shocking) so any comments, just pop them here and I'll attend to them when I get back.

[as they used to say in another '60s cult drama]

Be seeing you!

OK... done the first one smiley - smiley

Just a couple of thing in the 1st paragraph of 'Dr No':

> 'playright' should be 'playwright'

> 'which left the producers with only one major casting decision left.' - needs the second 'left' removing

I shall get onto the others when I'm not supposed to be working smiley - erm

Just got a mail from my mate Jim who's written that book on Bond. I asked him when the first film was released (I knew the date of the premiere, but not the national release). he replied thus:

"8 October 1962 (preview screenings for the press on the 5, Fleming saw it that day too and hated it. Got drunk on brandy afterwards and quoted his friend Noel Coward's observation to David Lean after he saw the BLYTHE SPIRIT film 'you f***ed up the best thing I ever wrote'.)"

So again, no promises, but I'm *aiming* to get your first entry up on 8 October.

smiley - cool

No problems in Part II smiley - ok

In Part III, the 'Forgive me father...' quote needs sorting out, as dose the 'He was married...' quote.

Also, in the first paragraph of 'Octopussy', 'potenitally' is a typo.

In Part IV, there is a stray space at the end of footnote 2 (which is something I'd meant to add but forgotten, so thanks for that! [Note to self - write 'Thunderbirds' Entry...])

And that's everything I've found smiley - smiley

Thanks once again for all your help and encouragement with these smiley - cheers

Smart - likewise I went looking for a suitable Thunderbirds link - I've opted for the Beeb's one.

I was toying with the idea of working on a project on Anderson, but I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of Thunderbirds. I liked Stingray, Scarlet - even Joe 90! - but Thunderbirds always struck me as a bit too slow. But I've seen a lot of his stuff. I used to have a few eps of Four Feather Falls and I've seen the dreadful Investigator pilot. And of course I *had* to buy UFO on DVD smiley - smiley

So instead I've done Captain Scarlet (with Primord) and then just had my entry on Gerry Anderson's ad for the Royal Bank of Scotland go through Peer Review. I think I'll leave him alone for now ...

Speaking of Thunderbirds, the BBC link in Part IV doesn't work. It looks like the [Broken link removed by Moderator]is missing, or something similar.
