Welcome to h2g2! smiley - smiley

You've overcome the first difficulty, figuring out what to write on your Personal Space - from here on the rest is easy! smiley - winkeye

Since you found me, I don't really know *what* to tell you so I'll relate a bit of my h2g2 experience (which began 13 August, 1999):

I first came to the site through a meandering web search for more information on Douglas Adams and his books. I read a few entries - I believe the first was about Paper Clips.

After hanging around and reading some of the Edited Entries and joining in some of the conversation forums, I started to write my own entries on subjects with which I had some 'unconventional knowledge'.

That's really what I love most about the Guide - being able to write little snippets about stuff that strikes my fancy. I'd highly recommend it! smiley - ok

When getting started, I would start with something you know, like a favourite resaurant or tavern or something. When you're satisified with it and it meets the Guide's style http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A53209 you can drop it off at the Peer Review forums http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/PeerReview for others to read and comment on. If a 'Scout' feels that the entry passes muster, they'll suggest it for inclusion into the Edited Guide and you'll eventually have your entry featured on the front page of the site.

Others simply enjoy the community aspect of h2g2 (as do I when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to do any writing! smiley - winkeye), you're best bet to find interesting conversations is by going to the Talk page http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Talk

If you've got questions that you'd like a lot of feedback on (or if you'd like to give a go at answering other people's questions) why not try the Ask h2g2 page http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Askh2g2 or the How Do I page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/HowDoI They're both a lot of fun.

I guess that's a lot of stuff to throw at you all at once, but you *did* ask for it! smiley - laugh

Hope you enjoy the Guide and I'll be seeing you around someplace! smiley - smiley

Cheers! smiley - bubbly

Since you're a southerner, you might be itnerested in joining us at the South Eastern United States Researchers Group Mark II [http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A583760].

There hasn't been a whole lot going on over at SEURG Mark II, but maybe you can think of something.
