Welcome to h2g2!
I don't even *know* where Edmonton is!
But I like Pink Floyd.
I'm an Ace, one of the Guides official greeters. You can ask me or any other Ace for help if you have problems finding your way round the Guide or if you just want to talk. Read more about the Aces at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Aces.
I'm also a Guardian Angel. Like the Aces, we greet newcomers (but "unofficial") and try to help them, but we also have a lot of fun with each other. You can find our page here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A467606
Please do not hesitate to ask me if you have any questions about h2g2! ( - or anything else... )
Just click the 'reply' button, or come visit my page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U150740
Have a donut!
See you around the Guide!

Actually...I do have a question, now that you mention it.
I wrote my first real Guide article shortly after I created my account. It's about 'How to Be a Hockey Fan'. Obviously, I'm not going to submit it for the Edited Guide right now...I just wrote it and need to troubleshoot. But the guidelines for the Edited Guide say that a submission cannot be on the same subject as something already in the Edited Guide.
There's an Edited Guide entry on 'Ice Hockey', but mine is about how to become a hockey fan. Is this considered 'the same subject'?

Just read your entry, and I really liked it!
I haven't read the entry on ice hockey (and don't know much about it ), but I would think, that your entry could make it on its own.
I'm not very involved with the writing part of the Guide, more with the community part, but here's a few basic tips for getting an entry into the Edited Guide.
The first thing you should do, is to change the entry to GuideML. That's the MarkUp language used in the Guide. If you know anything about HTML, you won't have problems with it, and if you don't - well, it's not difficult!. You can learn a lot about it at the GuideML clinic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/GuideML-Clinic
Amongst other things, you can learn how to make a link to the Ice Hockey entry, and to make footnotes!
The next thing, is that it's *very* seldom that an entry using writing in first person makes it to the Edited Guide. You'll have to change that, and probably be less biased too!
You could save this version as a "private" entry, and another version with the changes you'll *have* to make as the entry you -when you're ready - submit to the peer review.
Don't be frightened at the peer review. The people there can be nitpicking and sometimes a bit annoying, but most of the time they have good ideas. And there's always someone who knows just as much as you about any subject!
Good luck!

Sorry to butt in, but as soon as I read you town name I knew I'd heard it before but I'm sure that's the hailing place of the WWF's very own Chris Benoit (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) Am I right?

Hi Clive!
Isn't it interesting to see a greeting so much different from your own! Ottox the Lurker
Benjamin, one good advice: Click the link "Click here to be notified of new Conversations about this entry" at the bottom of your entries. That way any conversations that's started about the entries, will show up in your conversation list at your Personal Space!

Thanks for the advice...I'll make those changes.
And yes, I do hail from (near) Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I don't follow the WWF, but I follow it enough to be pretty sure that Chris Benoit is from here.
