Me, Me, Me !
Name: David Quirk
Occupation: Performance Engineer ( I don't know what I want to be when I grow up )
A long time Hitch Hikers Guide fan and follower of Dirk Gently.
As an Engineer I am actively encouraged to find out how things work, mainly by people who are to lazy to just look at things and think about them for a minute.
Engineering gives me an excuse to behave in a mildly eccentric manner and people, for some reason, accept my direct manner of speech and unorthodox behaviour.
I can't abide indecision or sloth.
On the plus side I like a challenge and generally tend to store useful and sometimes abstruse information. A quick snapshot of what I've been asked to find info on in the last couple of months includes how to build a wood burning stove, Iron rich foods suitable for Vegans, how to wire a "Y" plan central heating controller, detection of biological growth in fuel oils, an easy recipe for Pillau rice.
A pretty diverse mix.
I am working on a website of my own but find the process of preparing content laborious: realistically nothing is going to happen now until the winter weather stops me enjoying spending time outside.
I'm always open to techie type questions but may take some time to answer them. ( My boss always insists I write reports on my client projects and this gets in the way of the fun stuff, but heck, that's what they pay me for ! )
