Otto's journal: Motivation's whatya need....!
Posted Jul 21, 2004
At the moment, I'm supposed to be coordinating the production of an updated entry on Futurama, and a new entry on Asterix and Obelix. Solo, there's Machiavelli's 'The Prince', and 'Ethical Arguments about abortion'. I've also got vague plans for something on Isiah Berlin's 'Two Concepts of Liberty'. It would also be nice to write some more 'Cod Philosophy' columns for 'The Post' - I've got a few things to say at the moment about particular fallacies.
So why aren't I do any of these things? What's happened to my motivation and self-discipline? Why have I just not replied in a couple of threads in which I was having arguments/discussions with people? Why is my DVD collection so appealing? Why do I only rent 'light' films? (apart from Goodbye Lenin, but that hardly counts...)
Am I turning into an apathetic philistine as I approach the end of my 20s? Does this happen to everyone? Can (or should) I do anything about it?
Oh, I can't be bothered.....

Fisch's First Law states that anyone using the expression "political correctness gone mad" is almost always wrong about whatever they happen to be arguing about at the time....

When "The Passion of the Christ" is released on DVD (as it surely will be), do you think it will include a selection smeg-ups, bloopers and amusing outakes?
