I don't know why the website for Mountian Dew lists nutritional information for 8oz of soda, you can't buy it in increments smaller than 12oz here in the US.
I was looking up the nutritional info for the extremely healthy Large Buffalo Wings + French Fries + Extra Bleu Cheese + Mtn Dew I ordered, and for some reason that article come up from google.
Anyway the article you editied has the nutrition info listed for 8oz on their site relisted as 12oz. Since I have the can right here:
Serving Size 1 Can (12oz)
Calories 170
Sodium 70mg
TotalCarb 46g
Carb from Sugar 46g
no fat or protein.
That means a six-pack of Mtn Dew is all your sugar and 1/3rd your salt for a day. I won't stop drinking it as a consequence, but it's good to get the numbers right in case anyone else cares.
If you want extra bits of info for that page:
- Mountain Dew's "lemony-lime flavor" is actually processed orange juice concentrate. In fact, were you to accidentally drink sour orange juice out of the fridge you'd recognize the flavor right away.
- The "sugar" listing on american soda is a little misleading, it's actually corn syrup. That Cuban Embargo thing we have going pretty much guarantees it'll stay that way.
I was on a plane once and ordered a Coke (since they don't usually have Mountain Dew). It was super-sweet even with ice in it, I thought maybe there was something wrong with it. The stewardess told me that they had just flown to Boston from Germany, so the Coke was bottled in Germany and tasted different. She gave me the can, everything was written in German all over it. I got someone to translate - sugar, not corn syrup.
For all I know you get something different in the UK as well.
