And welcome to h2g2! It's my job as an ACE to greet new researchers and make them feel all comfy. So, if you happen to have a question, a problem, just tell me and I'll try my best to help you.
And don't tell me anything about spiders! A few days ago, I got up from my bed to go into the kitchen and there walked that spider - do spiders walk? - right across the room! Jesus!!! But I'm proud to tell that I was a brave, little girl who didn't scream but just got it out... Shuddering!
I often put a behind my name in postings hoping - you know - that will help me to maybe lessen my panic around those hairy, little beasts. Don't know if it really works, though.

Can't hurt either, can it?

Hello, thanks for that. Was going to put : ) but that seems a bit naff compared to the *proper* smileys. How do I get those? Is it a GuideML thing? Shouldn't have problems grasping that, cos I do HTML all day ... every day ... nearly.
The spider is probably still there, don't know cos I'm at work. Much faster connection but really shouldn't be doing this.
We have a poster about the Mongolians next to our tea point at work ... I used to think 'how odd' when I looked at it (I work with librarians, they're strange) now maybe I shall think of you and h2g2!

And you mean you let that in your room? So when you get back home, you'll don't know whre it is... Oh god! *shudder*
I'd be honoured if that poster would remind you of me and h2g2!
Have a great time! Hope to read from you soon!

Dammit, obviously not. I'll get the hang of it, I'm sure ... I might be around more soon, as I've just ordered a new computer that's going to turn up in a couple of weeks' time, kick the crap out of the this one, and then the whole online experience might be less frustrating.
The you-know-what with the eight legs is in his usual place, next to the radiator, so that's okay. I know where he is ... it's when his dad is going to come looking for him that worries me.

Hey you!
It took me several weeks to figure out which smiley-code to use when and where... You know, I don't knwo that much about computers and stuff. Learning by doing - that's what I try to do.
So, what are you going to do, when big daddy spider picks up his son?

Well, hellooo (feelin' slinky in my nice new computer!)
This is so much better.
Well, if daddy spider comes to collect baby spider, I think he's going to have a shock - I believe baby spider came to a sticky end. He vacated the spot by the radiator, and turned up next to my bedroom door. Yikes. He then vanished for a while. Next thing I know, I'm sat in the living room (on the blue sofa) looking across the room (at the yellow sofa), when I realise that there is something odd between the sofa cushion (yellow) and the base ... appears baby spider had settled down between the two, and someone (probably big fat me) had come along and sat on the sofa. And that was the end of the
Now, I'm off to take this souped-up model for a spin round the site ...

Well, and does h2g2 feel totally different now that you have that "souped-up model"?
Maybe mommy spider will tell the younger sisters and brothers of baby spider that they should learn something out of the tragic end of baby spider: Never sit between cushion and the bottom of a yellow couch when there is a blue couch across the room.
Methos - somehow the ussual didn't seem appropriate. Don't wnat it to have nightmares or something...
