Can you please clarify something? You state:

"After fifteen refusals the job was finally accepted by a relative newcomer to Hollywood, Robert Altman."

This is slightly ambiguous. Do you mean that Altman refused the job fifteen times, or that fifteen candidates turned it down before him?

I'd appreciate a swift reply, as the Editors want this one back a.s.a.p.

What I was trying to say was that 15 other directors turned down the project before the relative newcomer, Robert Altman, accepted it.

Feel free to re-write that as you feel fit.


Oh, and don't panic about the speed - I can wait

Have fun editing - and feel free to mangle the entry as you feel - personally I'm never happy with my writing style and think it can always be improved.

It's just that I've been allocated this one after another Sub-Editor failed to return it.

Should tv be tv or TV (capitalised) I'm never sure?

Apart from that - I didn't bother comparing it with my original and I've absolutely no idea where you've introduced changes - which means you've done your job right and the style's still consistent

Thanks for your comments. I've now returned it to the Editors.

To an extent 'tv' & 'TV' are interchangeable. However, I follow the rule that it's lower case within sentences (since you wouldn't write 'TeleVision') and upper case within titles (as all major words within titles must be in capitals).
