Or something like that
Hello and welcome to the Guide. I'm one of the Assistant Community Editors (we're the peeps with ACE after our name and badges in our homespace) a group of selfless individuals who have made it a mission to greet every new user. Well somehthing like that. Mostly we're nosey about newbies and want to have an excuse to say "hi"
So, Hi. Consider yourself officially welcomed to the site
Talking of which, the editors have a slightly more generic welcome if you follow the links. But it's nice to get a personal one isn't it?

As you may have spotted (or not) we have a thriving researcher community as well as simply submitting things for inclusion in the guide, you can hang around the pub or read the newspaper http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/ThePost. There are all sorts of community driven things around and the ones publicised on the Talk pages are always looking for new blood, see http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Talk
If you're not sure about that, there's always AskH2G2 where other researchers will attempt to answer any question you throw at them http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Askh2g2 or the miscellaneous chat forum if you want something more random http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/MiscChat
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask here, I've been on the site long enough to know how things work (and know the people to ask if I'm not sure)
Most importantly have fun here
DE

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
