Hello, Mrs Cloud.
I followed you here from Tnkerbell's page, so I'll tell you that she is at Durham uni and in the motor soc.
I've read a few of the Saint books and seen quite a few episodes on tele. Do you not like the series? Er, can't think of anything more intelligent to ask at the moment.

it's more that i haven't seen it i came about the books first and have only ever seen part of one episode of the first serises with Roger Moore. Someone informed me that some of them are out on DVD now (we don't have a video) so i will be asking for them for christmas
Oh course the other random thing is that my car is called Tinkerbell....
I will keep an eye out for her when i am at the next motorsport social.

Hmmm, your car is called "Tinkerbell". Tink has a furry Bagpuss in hers. I wonder who we can connect mine to... Is there a researcher called "scrapyard"?
I saw much of the Saint when BBC2 was doing repeats. Of course, most of the later series aren't based on the books.

no it's the other way round the screen plays were written first then the books later, but the books were all approved by Leslie Charteris and they made every effort to make them like the original ones.
when i bought my car i saw the number plate TBL60S and exclaimed "Tinkerbell" it stuck

Was every episode adapted into book form then? I always thought there were far more episodes than books (even allowing for the books containing 3 or 4 stories).
Hey, that's an old numberplate, what sort of car is it?

my mind sturggles due to not having my books with me to look up and also i'm not actually aware of how many episodes there were. Looking at my list there was about 14 books written by other people then Leslie Charteris and the dates on them strech from the late 60's through to the eighties. The trouble is these are the books that i have less of. I know that "The Saint and the Hapsberg Necklace" (written 1976) was a return of the Saint book as I can remember the picture of Ian Ogalvie (can't remember how to spell it) on the frount of it. There were a couple of full length novels that were supposedly made in to feature length episodes one of these was "The Saint and the Fiction Makers"
If you want to know more you are probably best looking at [URL removed by moderator] this is the website of the Saint Club and is very comprehensive.
As for my car it is a 1978 MG Midget, it's all on my h2g2 home page thingy

I'm not that bothered about it and it seems you know more than me; I hadn't heard of either the full-length novels or feature-length episodes.
Sorry, I did read your page, I just forgot. Have you met Tink yet?
