DA ; Simply Vicky: Don't get pithy with me! Started conversation Jan 23, 2005
It has taken me two hours to get into a malfunctioning email programme and re-send a mail that I sent this morning to the wrong address! The newspaper that published an advert for the perfect job, got the address wrong! and !
It is nice and cool now, and I am listening to Andy Stewart, with all the windows open, and Jim is reading Autocar. An article about a racing version of the Ariel Atom. He says he should be reading the Tanith Lee book (Piratica) which is quite cute. He finished 'Wolf Tower' by her last week. She's his current favourite.
I am reading the Boudica book - 'Dreaming the Eagle', by Manda Scott, which my sister Carol sent me for Christmas. It's awesome and just wonderful. Carol usually sends books, but this time, she chose books that are just perfectly suited to the recipients' tastes. (In the past, she hasn't done as well, but she deserves praise this time.
Aha, 'Road to the Isles'... on 26th December, I began a story while listening to this, and finished it just a few weeks later. It's quite inspiring. Odd, that. Oh, I just remembered that it was a different Andy Stewart song, but there you are, it was all to the good.
The whole CD still makes me a bit sad, but still, tempus fugit and all that sort of thing - and it really does wound all heels! (A brilliant pun years and years old, by the guy who used to write the column in the New Zealand Herald, a formidably clever man, fundamentalist Christian notwithstanding!

Hello Della!
How’s the job hunt going? Hope you’re having success!
So, has summer already reached its peak in NZ? Winter does its best to defend its reputation in the middle of Europe: it has finally become very cold, very windy and we’re enjoying some snow.

Hi, katkodl... It is hot and airless here right now, I love it, but my son hates it, especially as he has to around sorting out his university enrolment. (Why is it that these things never go smoothly? )
How do you like the snow and cold? The wind can't be fun...

I remember my university enrollment very well. A terrible time, really! It seems impossible to stay calm in such a situation.
I hate the cold weather. I’m freezing all the time, no matter how warm it is in the house! At the moment we have no snow at all, but it’s very cold and windy. At least we’re enjoying some sunshine today.

I despise the cold weather as well, so I am enjoying the warmth (the hotth in fact) that we are experiencing now. I have just gone and hung out a line of washing, which is my favourite household task. Towels and the like flapping in the slight breeze. I summer, despite not being as able to sleep, not to mention the whiny little mosquitoes!
You have my sympathy, katkodl...
The mess with Jim's enrolment is still not sorted, though there is a possible solution, so here's hoping. (But we won't know for a while. ). My second and third enrolments in 1999 and 2002 didn't go well either. What can you do?

Summer breeze makes me feel fine, blowing through the jasmine in my mind!
That’s already the second time that you’re bringing this song to my mind by one of your posts! I love this song… But listening to the song in Austria is too much of a contradiction right now!
Seize the nice summer days! Winter will be back all to soon!
How’s the enrollment going?

Summer is a bit too strong at the moment, katkodl... Our lawnmower man just came, and when he left, he was all red-faced and I thought he was going to keel over! (He's a bit old.) Still, I was thinking last night, when it was so hot I couldn't sleep, that winter will soon come, and I will be too cold to sleep!
The enrolment problem *may* have a solution! Here's hoping, as I said.

Lawnmower Man! I love that movie. That is, I haven’t seen it for aaages… but I loved when I saw it (an estimated) ten years ago.
It’s snowing a lot at the moment. Maybe tomorrow I’ll build a . It’s lovely outside – not cold, no wind, very calm. Just !
I hope the *may* of the enrollment solution has turned into a *does* (or something similar) meanwhile!

Ah, you make the snow sound so lovely... I have never built a snowman. It sounds like such fun. It's blazing hot here right now!
Jim is going to school on Monday to re-sit a test, and see it that helps. He's very cross about having to.

Hello Della!
Yeah, the snow is wonderful! So much snow, it’s unbelievable!
How come you’ve never built a ? Not even as a child? It’s so much fun!!! Well, your fingers will be frozen afterwards, but that’s worth it!
Your son has to take another exam? Oh dear! I hope he’s doing fine!

I never built a snowman when I was a child, because there are only a few areas in NZ where it snows... We lived in one of them (a place called Rangataua) when I was 3 years old, but I was too young.
Today, we have a lot of rain! It's still so hot, but no longer sunny.
Jim sits his other exam on Monday, and then with any luck, will be in University properly! Yay!

I’ve always thought that it is snowing a lot in NZ! But as far as I remember you live in the north, so it does make sense that there is no snow… There is snow in the southern areas of NZ, isn’t there?
Rain can be such a release after a heat wave! I hope it has cooled down a little in your area. Being forced to learn while it’s hot must be a torture for your son right now. I bet he’s pretty grumpy!

Yes, the rain has cooled things down considerably, which is great and the sun is just beginning to shine again. The best thing about the wind and rain, is that they both discouraged the mosquitoes... Yay!
Tomorrow, Jim is off to school for his major test. Today, he is de-stressing, by playing video games. I so hope all goes well!
Are you still enjoying the snow, or has it melted to slush by now?

De-stressing by playing video games!
The snow is turning to slush… while meadows are still white and nice it has become really dirty and slushy in the streets. And we’re enjoying quite a lot of roof avalanches at the moment. That’s quite unpleasant: most of them are too small to hurt you, but it’s pretty annoying being hit by one cause you end up all wet and easily get a cold that way!
How is your job hunt going? Any success so far?
All the best for your son and his exams!

He's at the school sorting it all right now! We'll see, thank you for your good luck wishes...
Roof avalanches? Oh, no, I don't think I'd like that at all!

It was written, he did it on Monday, and because there's a big rush to get ready for University, the teacher phoned on Tuesday to tell us he passed! Yay!!!!

There's lavender outside my front door, does that count?
