Wayfarer-- I only wish I were crackly Posted Feb 21, 2004
*Well,* I've found Robin Hobb's books--which are just wonderful and I'd be finished by now except for the dread that there's going to be a Noble Death (and also the last one was just released over here, SEVERAL MONTHS after it's released in UK, you lucky, lucky people, not that I couldn't get it too if I were willing to pay horrifying s&h)--thanks to Maya, who has excellent taste in books and is also very entertaining.
Also, I finally got someone hooked on Discworld MUD.
*takes breath*
And you?
*nibbles one of the chocoalte things*

Hey cool, I tried Discworld MUD but never had any friends on it so never had an incentive.

Help with what? Some things are outside my areas of expertise.

I'm going to take you literally on the 'walking around' part... Once you get outside of the cities and into SUR[rounding area], you can set your 'options personal travel' to walk or journey, respectively regular walking and walking about ten spaces at a time.
As to meeting people, well, you can always ask a random person if they want to group. After using the finger and refer to make sure it doesn't say something like 'I don't group,' obviously. Or just ask people if they'll show you around, since you're new.

Hey, it's been awhile since I was new. I'm deeply entrenched now.

Discworld MUD, can wait.

Oh, don't be silly, don't give it up just because of that. Just jump into a conversation on the talker or a board or something, no one takes it amiss at all(unless you use the hated netspeak) and it's certainly a way to meet people.

Ahahaha. All cower before my mighting converting-ness! Well, maybe not. It is *very very* fun, though. I've even found some new things to 'research' as I laughingly call it; the 'sweetie shaker' and the 'buffered analgesic' which are stat modifiers, previously unknown(by me at least).

Ah but I want to be born into the MUD as twins with someone.
in reality I'm a coward.

Welll... I don't think you can do that automatically, but you can form a family and have family relationships with people. Think it costs money to maintain a family name, though.
