Well it says it broke the rules, agreed some posts do return. I dont see the point your'e trying to make, i dont think theres any need for name calling no matter how minor they feel it to be. By all means make your point but to bring it down to that level doesnt help their case in anyway, i asked them to stop the name calling and what did they do ?? they continued to do it. If they have a problem with it being hidden they will have to contact the mod-team as they no doubt already know.

The point I am making is that I don't go into threads that have little or nothing to do with me and make accusations.
I didn't, for instance, go to F95994?thread=379461&latest=17 and complain about the thinly veiled threats of violence against me personally and others I know.
Please answer the question, what are you doing here and what is your interest in this thread? If you have a problem with the title *sock puppet* tell us why. It isn't an insult, it's a description.

Absolutely.
And, it doesn't appear to be the content that 'broke' the <./>HouseRules</.>, Star Fleet, as since the re-wording, it's still here. Although that just says that nobody's taken offence to it yet. Do you think the re-wording still could be seen as offensive?

Oops. Didn't see this other page of posts.
'Sock puppet' is a technical term, originating from Usenet newsgroups. It is used to describe a person or post which replies to itself to make itself look popular, or more people in favour of that person's view.
Name calling has not been thrown your way anywhere in this thread.

But im not making any accusations, i dont know where you get that idea from ?? Aka it was a misunderstanding about the term "sock puppet" like i say a have my reasons i didnt know there was rule stating that i could not join a thread because there isnt one

There is no rule stating that you cannot join a thread straight from registering -- but you have to admit, jumping in to a thread such as this one, on this subject does look a little odd.

Oh, you can also find out which post any post is in reply to, by clicking the 'This is a reply to this posting' link. Since such a link on cl's post 42 links to post 41, it must be in reply to that.
Post 41 has the last reply button on the page, though, so whether or not it was in fact in reply to #41, or just a shortcut to add a reply into the thread, I don't know. You'd have to wait for cl to answer.

One thing I can't stand is when people who think everything you tell them that they already know, but which you are unaware of their knowledge of such a thing, is out to be patronising.
If you're truly a brand new-bie, you wouldn't find this patronising, surely?

Post 70 in in that thread refers to my post in another- F69836?thread=380465&skip=40&show=20#p4880651
The next post therefore refers to me: "a thouroughly obnoxious character who I would *love* to *punch* on the *nose*"
Then various *theories* are posted that include references to me as *smug*, etc.
Have I taken offence and yikesed? No. And you feign indignation over the fact that someone supposed you might be a sock puppet. Shame.

Researcher 178815 Posted Feb 26, 2004
No, it's you that's childish. Either grow a brain, and you can stay, or head on over to other threads... If you stay, you'll only be considered a sock puppet.
Sock.
Puppet.
Key: Complain about this post
