Non pre-vocalic 'r'... all accents of English have pre-vocalic 'r', being an /r/ which is pronounced where it occurs before a vowel... like in "free", "crook", "from", etc... well, non pre-vocalic 'r' is an /r/ which is pronounced elsewhere...before a consonant "hurt", at a word boundary "car", etc...RP stands for Received Pronunciation, which is that really posh sounding British accent...

Ok, three things.... well, four really, but two of them are part of one, and it will only be three anyway cos I just forgot the third... know what I mean?
Firtsly, two more things I forgot to mention about Austin. I think I've talked about the trees in another conversation, so forgive me if you've already heard this. This place is full of them. Everywhere you look, there's trees. I think they must have been planted around the houses before there was a/c because they all seem to shade people's homes. From the top deck of I-35 or US 183, all you can see is treetops. The other thing is the thunderstorms - they're spectacular! Well, let's face it, they have to be - they produce tornadoes
Secondly - RP. It's called Received Pronunciation Shea because when posh kids go to school, it's the pronunciation they receive from their English teachers. If it weren't for RP (aka BBC English), they'd prolly all talk like wot I do
