Emmily ~ Roses are red, Peas are green, My face is a laugh, But yours is a scream

Hi WB, looks like you've got the short straw with this one smiley - smiley

It was picked before it was ready, my fault entirely for submitting it to PR too early, but I was fed up with the lack of response in EGWW.

There are a few gaps, mostly simple stuff, so I'll work with you to fill in those few gaps. Let me know when you're ready and I'll post some here.smiley - oksmiley - smiley

Ok, I think I have it pretty much finished. smiley - ok I saw fit to take out the part at the beginning where you link to the Entry about the novels. 1, I didn't think there was much point in doing all that for one other Entry, and 2, because it is still in PR anyway. smiley - erm

Somethings that confused me: Wellesley/Wellington. In that paragraph about Wellesley, you then went into something about Wellington. I changed it all to Wellesley, because I assumed you may have made a mistake... But then later on you mention Wellington a few times. smiley - huh

" Yes, his name is spelled with one 'I' in 'Philip' " What?!

I see there is is a subheader under "Sharpe's Women" that is not filled in. I guess that is something you were planning on adding?

Here's the top link, please put it back in

Sharpe
The Novels | Sharpe - The Television Action-Drama Films

1, There's a very good point, they are both about the same character called Sharpe.

2, It's already arranged with Jims that both the Sharpe Entries will appear on the Front Page together. smiley - oksmiley - smiley

Wellesley/Wellington - I was sure I had dealt with that, oh well, seems I didn't.

suggest you do this -

Sir Arthur Wellesley/Lord Wellington

-Sir Arthur Wellesley, later promoted to 'Lord Wellington', was played by David Troughton in the first three films and Hugh Fraser in the rest.-

And then change the Lord Wellesleys, back to Lord wellington. (You can't change English history just because you don't understand it WB smiley - laugh)

" Yes, his name is spelled with one 'I' in 'Philip' " What?!

Remove that, it was just to stop comments about the spelling of the name in PR, I had meant to remove it, but forgot.

Yes, Lucille Castineau (nee Lassan) is one of the gaps I mentioned.

I'll go read the rest of your changes now.

I've noticed a few things that I should have sorted, including using first names, where surnames should have been used.

The Header - The Making of a TV Hero

should be - The Making of a Television Hero (rather than using an abbreviation in a Header)

>Andy had previously worked with Bernard Cornwell

should be

-Allan had previously worked with Bernard Cornwell

>After reading the book, Muir agreed:

should be

-After reading the book, Sunderland agreed:

There's a couple more up to Subheader 'Production, Costume and Set Designers' that need changing to the surname, don't think there's any after that though.

From previous post

-Sir Arthur Wellesley, **later** promoted to 'Lord Wellington', was played by David Troughton in the first three films and Hugh Fraser in the rest.-

soon, not later, I'm getting confused with the novels. smiley - sorry

Here's some links you can add, I didn't get a chance to add links smiley - sadface

Bernard Cornwell - http://www.bernardcornwell.net/

Under Subheader 'Production, Costume and Set Designers'
Spain - A139493
Gandhi - A281756

>The majority of the locations for filming the Sharpe series were in Ukraine, Turkey and Portugal,

I see you've removed the 'the' from in front of Ukraine, please put it back, it is known as 'the Ukraine', in the same way it is 'the UK' and 'the US' in that context.

Chelmsford - A844995
Essex - A8465763

That'll do for now. I'll try to post more links and the 'gaps' over the weekend.

Here's the first gap, I've alredy asked Gnomon to check it over, which he did smiley - magic so you can just copy & paste it in, as the third paragraph under 'Sergeant Patrick Harper' - unless you have a better idea. smiley - smiley

O'Mally was the first actor to be cast, as Sgt Patrick Harper, while the Sharpe project was still in its early stages, and he saw it through most of the stops, starts and problems. O'Mally had bumped into McBain in a pub in Dublin; they knew each other from their drama school days. McBain had arranged to meet Harris in the pub to discuss casting for Sharpe. While he waited, he caught up on old times with O'Mally. McBain told him about Sharpe. He had already told O’Mally that he was too young for the part of Harper when Harris joined them; he took one look at O'Mally and declared he'd be perfect in the role of Harper, and so the first role was filled.

Okay smiley - smiley This next but I think should go direcly under 'The Chosen Men' section. It's about Harper's woman/wife.

Ramona, Harper's Woman

Harper's woman, known as Isabella in the novels, has her named changed to Ramona, played by Diana Perez, in the films. Ramona is a Portuguese hanger-on, who had joined the family-section of the English regiment camp sometime ago; she and Harper had built up a relationship. They had a baby son, Patrick, born out of wedlock.

Harper had confided in Sharpe that in his heart, he wants to 'make an honest woman' of Ramona, but he is worried about the possible animosity from his countrymen and his mother, if he took a Portuguese wife home. Sharpe confides this to Father Curtis, played by John Kavanagh, and Irish priest, in Sharpe's Sword.

After a battle, as Harper lies wounded, Father Curtis reads him his 'last rights'. 'Am I going to die this time, Father?' Harper asks. 'Yes, my son' answers Father Curits gravely. Then asks 'Have you any last wishes?' Harper comes back with 'I wish I had married Ramona Father.' With a smile Father Curtis tells Harper 'I can grant you that before you go.'

Ramona is quickly bought to his side, and their marriage vows are hastily spoken. Then Father Curtis says 'Now, get up and kiss the bride' a puzzled Harper, replies 'I thought you said I was going to die, Father. To the laughter of the chosen men; who had by now gathered around, Father Curtis said knowingly – 'We’re all going to die, Patrick.' And to the cheers of the gathered crowd, Harper kissed his bride.

Jeez, has it really been 6 days, time flies. Here's the section for Lucille, who's had a name change in the films. Ready to just be cut & paste. smiley - magic (I need to do a bit more at the end, 'Sharpe's Challenge' then I'll be nearly finished. smiley - oksmiley - smiley)

Lucille Dubert

Sharpe's first encounter with LucilleLucille's surname is different from the novels. was when she shot him in the leg with a gun loaded with nails. Sharpe, now a fugitive, and Frederickson had entered the farm-home Lucille shared with her her recently-murdered brother, in Normandy, France. With the help of Harper and Frederickson, Sharpe had escaped from custody to clear his name; Lucille's late brother was implicated in the case: a framing of Sharpe by Ducos.

As Sharpe lay in bed recovering from his injuries, a relationship grew between Lucille, a widow, and Frederickson who, with the war over, was looking for a wife to settle down with. Frederickson left to search for information about Ducos, while Lucille continued to tend to Sharpe, who drifted in and out of consciousness, finally making a recovery after ten days.

While they awaited Frederickson's return, Sharpe made himself useful, doing odd-jobs around the farm. He and Lucille grew close, though he remained faithful to Jane, his estranged wife, until he hears that Jane is sharing another man's bed, and then Sharpe lets his passion for Lucille loose.

Frederickson returns to the farm in high spirits, and with news of Ducos; his mood quickly changes when he discovers Sharpe had been sharing Lucille's bed. It effectively put an end to their five-year friendship. In a bitter row later, outside in the farmyard Frederickson spat

Damn you Sharpe! God damn you! How many women do you want? I hope she breaks your bloody heart!

They continued the mission to clear Sharpe's name, Sharpe then returned to Lucille, and remained with her until she died.

Hi again WB smiley - smiley

The Sharpe novels Entry is now on 'Pending' status, so I'd better get my finger out and help you get this finished. I've found some in 'Word' that I had intended to include. I'll put the GuideML & links in that then post it here. It won't be punctuation and grammar checked, I'm not too good at that sometimes.

Could you change the top link to the 'Pending' version A15711301

and I'll be back shortly, assuming we're not all chucked off of the site. smiley - ok
