Hi fellow researchers.
I am female, 37, and married.
I have 2 boys (8 & 11), 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats and humpteen; chooks, ducks and geese.
I live on a property of 200 acres in Cental Queensland Australia.
While an Electrician by trade, at present I am doing a University degree in Information Technology, hopeful to complete it this year.
My husband and I both love reading Science fiction and fantasy stories. I recently brought J.R.R. Tolkiens 'Lord of The Rings' series, for my oldest son and he loves them. ( Note* I had to reread them my self too :-]} )
I think technology is a wondrous entity. I use entity, because I think of it as a growing, living and thriving thing. I beleive it is still in it's infancy and while it needs guidance and nurturing, it's potential is unbound, a lot like our Kids.
Since I have reached the age I have I can truly relate to Douglas Adams statement: "Anything that's invented after you're 35 is against the natural order of things,".
I can still remember when we didn't have Television. Mt Isa (where I was born) didn't get TV till the early seventies. Yet my kids think computers are as natural as chooks eggs.
For the university Degree I'm doing we have mailing lists for each subject as well as a general forum. There are lot "older" external students and is often quite amusing when we get to discussing things that have been around since our youth and the younger students ask us what we are on about. To us it's still now, but to them its past tense because their history is still in the writting.
It often makes we think what I will have to look back on when I am an other 37 years older? Bit Like Adams envisioning accessing the Internet from a PalmIV and being equally surprised it came into being.
Well that aught to do for an introduction.
