Good point about Reagan/Carter

Post 1

clzoomer- a bit woobly

Carter was voted out because of perception of inability,IMO. The big media and 'net push for Obama hasn't really hit stride yet but the stats are supporting him. Unemployment has already started to lessen and Obamacare has had some success. Eleven months is a long time in politics.

I agree. It's always hard to judge another country at a distance. The ones shouting loudest and dominating the headlines don't necessarily truly reflect public opinion. On this side of the pond all we hear are the ravings of the Tea Party crowd and the more nutty right wing extremists. I'm sure (where Britain's covered at all) in America, the focus is upon unions on strike and students demonstrating.

I'm closer to the US physically (the border is half an hour away) but more importantly this country is bombarded with US broadcasting. Luckily some of it _is_ fair and balanced (National Public Radio. PBS, HDNet, etc.). If you listen and look at them and keep in touch with polls and the 'net it's possible to be mildly optimistic about Obama, even occasionally wildly excited!

smiley - cheers

Hi. Hope you here don't mind my joining. I was impelled based on its title and the wallabee story and a link off of it, swl. As far as topicality, nothing from me today. I went so overboard leftish that I declared 'Squeaky' Fromme did right thing just days before Betty Ford's death, but that is just an identifier on me. smiley - sadface
