Slartibartfast - a much dismissed character of thg2tg - Discuss ?
I believe that Slarty (as his friends call him, for short)is not given the prominance his genius deserves, probably because people get hung up on the origin of his name. Anyone who designed the 'crinkly bits' of Norway's coastline MUST be a genius, as it's truly beautiful, as anyone who has ever seen it close at hand can vouchsafe!
Seriously, 'though ...... (Maybe I was being serious , who knows?) I'm sure that anyone logged onto this site already agrees that the concept and imagination of thg2tg was a work of genius, not only of Douglas Adams himself, but of all the others who were involved in the production of the radio shows, and especially, the television series.
Douglas Adam's untimely death is a tradegy, but only in that for anyone to have an untimely death is a tradigy (Damn! I'm having a mental block about the spelling of that word!). Mr Adams, who should certainly be remembered forever for his imagination, is not specifically a loss because of his writing abilities - not prolific and let's be honest, Dick Gently was probably a waste of everyones's time - but because we could always hope that he could recapture the free-wheeling imagination of thg2tg again, although it was probably unreasonable of us to expect it. However, I hope to remember to carry my towel with me on the 25th.
