Guess what! I'm thinking of playing guitar! When I was seven, I took guitar lessons, and I hated it, and then I have completly, totally forgotten everything I learned, and then I was intent on never playing music, since I hated guitar lessons, but then I started taking piano last year and I like that, and now I'm thinking of doing guitar again. But I probably won't take lessons, though, I got some books at the library yesterday. So far all I have is the opening parts of I Can't Explain, and Jumping Jack Flash....
It snowed last night!

Yay!! You just brightened my day.
I think you should definately go for it! I never took lessons when I used to play guitar, so it's not a big deal if you hate lessons- but my dad plays so I used to get him to help me when I needed it.
It's weird that you mentioned it... when I was *a lot* younger I took piano lessons... group piano lessons and I hated it, but I've been thinking about playing the piano recently. I think I probably hated it because I had to stay with the group though. I ended up having to practice a bunch of really boring and easy stuff over and over.
If you do want to take lessons don't let the last place put you off. High school music killed bass for me. And although I did the bass thing mainly on my own, I did have lessons for a little more than a month and I really enjoyed because the teacher was very good. A good teacher will make guitar a lot more enjoyable!
And if you can already play piano it'll be no problem for you to learn the fret board
If you like classic rock you might want to check out some CCR to play as well.
I'm probably going to write a journal about this in a minute but I'll tell you now...
I got another bunny!
Yup, I'm an idiot... I have three bunnies and a dog to take care of now.
There's a sad part though... I think he's sick. I'll put more details in the journal entry.
Goodluck with the guitar if you go for it!

yeah, I couldn't imagine group lessons, that would be pretty awful.
And I heard that if you learn to play piano, then learning pretty much any other instument would be a piece of cake.... So I'm glad for that.
And if I do end up taking lessons after all, I think I'll try someone different than last time. I'm sure there are other teachers in Greenville. And now that I'm way older, I might not have to play Mary had a little lamb, and work out of a method book with obnoxious cartoons of farm animals sporting cool shades and dancing to little kids playing guiitar. That's what the book was like last time. I hated those sorts of thing even when I was a little kid.

Cool shades!
That's hilarious! That's also basically the kind of thing that put me off piano.
Maybe if you do guitar I'll have to do piano.
Although my best bet is probably to buy a reeeeaaalllyyy cheap keyboard and learn it myself because I definately can't afford lessons, especially if I move out after Christmas!
Guess what!
Wyatt Posted Dec 8, 2005
Sounds like a plan. If you do start piano, if you have any questions, I might be able to help.
I read about this new invention, its a roll up keyboard! yeah, it's just this mat with piano keys, and a thing attached to it that's got the speakers and everything, and it has all different tones, and things....and you just put it on a table or something...

fundamentallyflawed Posted Dec 8, 2005
Wow! I bet it's really expensive though.
Have you read my latest journal entry about my bunny troubles?I think I'm going to have to take him to the vet.
Guess what!
Wyatt Posted Dec 8, 2005
I think its under 200.
Yeah, I've been reading the thread.
I got another guitar book at the library today.
It's snowing a LOT, here.
OK, I'll shut up now.
Guess what!
fundamentallyflawed Posted Dec 9, 2005
Snow! It hasn't snowed lately here. All of our snow is on the ground and there isn't too much of it right now. It is freezing out though.
What book did you get? Are there farm animals in cool shades?
Guess what!
Wyatt Posted Dec 9, 2005
I can't remember the exact title or author, but I have a feeling that it has 'guitar' in the title.
There is a lot of snow. We have a long gravel drive that get huge snow drifts in it, and we can't drive up and down it. We have to park the cars way down at the end of the drive the night before, and then walk.
But even so, I like snow. Well, I think I'll go make another pot of tea. We bought a new teapot yesterday, and it's really big. I'll have to make my mom make a tea cozy, but until then, I'll just have to wrap it up in teatowels.

Sounds good.
I haven't had anything yet today.
I've been trying to get my bunny to take his anti-biotic since 9 this morning (it's 12 now)! He has .4mL left to take.
Guess what!
Wyatt Posted Dec 9, 2005
Aaww. My cat doesn't care much for taking medicine, either.
Yay! My mom is going to kick off christmas coooking, tonight. She's making rumballs. I'm going to sneak some.
I played twinkle twinkle *stupid* star on my guitar, today.
Guess what!
fundamentallyflawed Posted Dec 10, 2005
Twinkle, twinkle! Ouchy! That sucks.
I hope you find a better book than that. Maybe try a beginners blues book or somethin'. That could be fun.
Yummy Christmas cooking! I was just Christmas shopping, which isn't as nice, but at least I got more people finished for Christmas.
In half an hour I get to start trying to give the bunny his anti-biotic again.
Guess what!
Wyatt Posted Dec 11, 2005
Nah, I won't switch books. This one is the best I have found so far. I also just learned a D and an A7 chord.
I havn't started shopping yet....though we were at wal-mart yesterday, and I saw season one of Remington Steele that I thought my dad might like... I gotta count my money and see what the situation is and what I can afford...
My mom made chocolate fudge last night! That was appropiate, since we watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last night on DVD... Oh, thank you. You smell like old people. And soap.
Guess what!
fundamentallyflawed Posted Dec 11, 2005
I saw that in the theatre with some friends a while back. It's a good movie.
Hey those are both chords I know and actually remember!
So you're actually learning theory as well?
Guess what!
Wyatt Posted Dec 11, 2005
yeah, I'm learning theory, but then a lot of it I already know, from piano. So that aspect isn't to hard
Guess what!
fundamentallyflawed Posted Dec 11, 2005
That's refreshing. Most people who learn guitar completely ignore theory.

This morning I saw a little cat run past the window, so I went outside and followed it into the shed. He was really friendly, but he was really skinny, so I went in and filled up a little dish with my cat's meow mix and took it out to him, and it must have been really hungry, becasue it ate it all really fast. I dn't know if he belongs to someone around here, and he was just exploring, or if he's a stray, or if someone abandoned him or whatever, but he hasn't a collar or anything, and he seems heathy except for being sort of skinny, but he wasn't dirty or smelly or anything... A little bit ago I went out to see if he was still in the shed, but he wasn't there. I hope he comes back.
Guess what!
fundamentallyflawed Posted Dec 14, 2005
Awww! I hope so to.
I used to feed strays in my old neighbourhood all the time.
What did the kitty look like?
