Congratulations, Mr Beeblebrox. Front page news, eh?

Having read through the edited entry it seems to have been altered a fair bit, at least from how I remember your original in PR. I'm curious as to what you think. Has it been altered much? Did you have any say in the alterations?

Anyway, hope all is well.

Well, Hi there catwoman smiley - cat. So good to hear from you again after all this time. How's things in your part of Devon? I see you (like moi) have been busy labouring away at articles on Furball, Buzzcocks, WP et al. for the guide. Don't they take alot of time? I also notice you have one pending, so full marks there. Also changed yer name I notice. How long I can go without calling myself a keeper of something is yet to be seen. In fact, I'm thinking of becoming Z for short, but this will put others in mind of Zorro and suchlike. The article on Tonks had been pending for quite some time and all of a sudden it's on the front page. Mind you, it's now gone I noticed. Don't stick around for long, do they? smiley - ghost'ed away! Yes, it was edited a bit, but only slightly, with a couple of links added (e.g. dog, human), and a few sentences re-jigged and inserted elsewhere to maintain the flow. It must be said that the editors don't seem to like graphics or too many footnotes - a tip for future articles. I've had quite a mixed reception re. several of my other articles in PR. but some positive stuff coming out of the ensuing conversations.
I must drop by and have a longer chat soon.
Hope you and the Summer vacation are doing fine.
Best Wishes smiley - ok

Hello again Zaphod,

Indeed entries do take a seemingly inordinate amount of time to complete, particularly if one tries to do them properly. Still, your patience and hard work has paid off - no sooner had I congratulated you on being front page material when you do it again. Two in three days - must be some sort of record for a new-ish researcher.

My entries are still pending, but shouldn't take too much time after yours before making the front page. I'm still not holding my breath, though. I'm going to call a temporary halt to entry writing - I promised a while back to help out with maintaining the Musician's Guild page but so far have done nothing due to the fact that I've had entries to write. Now I think I should make good on that promise.

The name extension thing has come to an end. I tried it on for size but found that it didn't really fit. Much as I'm proud of my title (Keeper of Irrelevant Music Trivia) it has been relegated to my personal page now, along with the 42 thing - interesting, but not worth repeatedly mentioning. I think the name 'Z' would be good - it would add some mystique to a posting, maybe you'll get more visits to your personal page from potential dream-sharers (on that subject, I may well drop you a line soon). Sure, some may consider 'Z' to be short for Zorro but one look at your page would tell them otherwise. By the way, why the picture of the Gallagher brothers on your page?

Summer hols are OK - I feel like I'm getting more than a decent night's sleep for the first time in a year. Only two weeks left now, though, so I'll have to start thinking about next term soon. Boo!

Likewise, I hope you are enjoying the summer, such as it is. I'm not a sun worshipper but some nice weather would be nice. Mind you, there's always a cloud hanging over this part of Devon - maybe some terribly evil atrocities were committed here in past times and the current residents have to live with consequences.

Yeah, you wait for one and two come along together. Still, it was worth the waiting.
Gallagher bros, eh? smiley - grrsmiley - hangoversmiley - bruised It's coming straight off!! I didn't realise. All I saw was two heads and a single body.
At the mo I'm totally immersed in doing an entry on Carl Jung, having just finished one on medieval alchemy - which Crescent Ace (or was it Orcus?) is going to critique. By the way I was informed that entries are now taking longer to scout, since there are alot more of them.
I had a posting the other day from a researcher (a obvious purist of the Hitchhiker's Guide and DA) who was most indignant about me using the name Zaphod, also accusing me of plagiarising stuff from the Trilogy. I asked him what he thought of Elvis impersonators but he never got back. Some people, eh? As if life isn't short enough.
I've just returned from a festival at Gaunt's House in Dorset which was superb. Also managed to get down to Cornwall to visit Eden Project.
Must say the Musician's Guild sounds impressive. I'll have to check it out. What are your duties meant to be? Do you get to read and critique related music entries?
Your lucky. I'm back to work Monday smiley - sadface Glad U R 'ing OK.
Rest assure that the Summer weather isn't panning out the way it should in my neck of Devon. 1 sunny day, 3 showery days, 1 it-can't- make-it's-mind-up day and so on.
Speak soon
Z (trying it for size) smiley - cheers

Some professional advice (please),

I was given a book by/about Jung a while back -'Memories, Dreams, Reflections' which seems to be an assisted autobiography (if there can be such thing). Do you know the book and whether it's a good first Jung book?

I've been intrigued by various Jungian things over the years, most notably Sting used to go about him around the time of the 'Synchronicity' Police LP. So I asked for a Jung book for my birthday and was given the aforementioned tome, but I'm not really sure it's what I need.

So, (after the above ramble), for a first time reader of anything even slightly psychological, is this a good choice? If not could you recommend another book that I could get instead. I'll be honest with you, it would have to be something fairly straightforward - Carl Jung for the Common Man (or something). I'll check out your entry in a while.

What did you think of the Eden Project? We haven't been for 15 months or so and thought we'd leave it until the end of the summer so the plants would have had more of a chance to grow. I also read that they introduced insects'n'things at the beginning of this month, which would be pretty cool to see.

As for my duties with the Musician's Guild - I'll let you know.

Hi Catwoman. Glad to hear you're interested in Jung. For the uninitiated, and as a way in, I'd strongly recommend 'Man and his Symbols' (published by Picador - Pan Books) which is conceived and edited by Jung with essays by Jung himself and analysts that worked closely with him. In fact, this was the last work undertaken by Jung before his death in 1961. Jung wanted to 'popularise' his work and this was the vehicle for doing it. Of course MDR's is interesting but it doesn't put across his basic ideas and concepts in the same methodical way.
Having almost completed my entry on Jung, you may like to visit A600642, together with its bedfellow A604009 which gives an outline of Jung's basic concepts and theories of the psyche (also includes a little bit on 'Synchronicity' at the end - but no mention of Sting). (This might save you money too!!!). Also check out the recommended books at bottom of the entry.
There are other good 'introduction' books, and I particularly like Understanding Jung, Understanding Yourself by Peter O'Connor. I've just borrowed a copy of 'Jung For Beginners' with superb and often amusing illustrations. (more light-hearted, this is part of a series on famous people by ICON BOOKS). Let me know how you get on.
I found the Eden Project experience somewhat marred by the multitudes, but was impressive nevertheless. I noticed there was a distinct lack of insect life, so obviously they haven't got round to it. There were however, a few stray, and probably local, butterflies.
I particularly enjoyed the Dionysian vineyard, the giant bull and dancing mynaeds, with the wicker sculpts of grazing sheep nearby.
All the best

PS checked out the Musician's Guild. Why don't show their membership logo on your homepage?

Thank you. It has been quite some time since the entry was recommended but then, patience is a virtue (apparently). It was actually my second entry into the edited guide - 'How to Fail as a Pop Group' appeared a week or so beforehand. Sadly it's been a bit misunderstood by those who have commented on it.

Ah, well. It's back to school on Monday. I don't know how much I'll see of h2g2 after that as the autumn term is particularly busy. There's still a few things I'd like to contribute to the guide but they will come a lot more slowly than those I have already done. I keep on watching the front page to see new entries that might be yours - let me know if you have any further success.

I shouldn't really complain, should I? I mean, most people have far shorter summer hols than I get.

Uggghhh, the dreaded going back! The clash between personal liberty and worldly duty can be an awesome thing. Sometimes you're life's just not your own, is it? Never mind, a few days (hours?) with the kids and it'll be like you've never been away.
Hope you don't disappear for too long from the planet h2g2.
All the best
