HI there
yes the electricians have mainly finished now thank goodness
How have things been with you?

Lightman Posted Feb 24, 2003
I'm so glad that the electricians have practially finished, A relief for you I would think.
As for me it was half term last, so it must be better than a normal week, but as usual the best laied plans..
I got one day away from W**K, thankfully Friday and Saturay was fine, which allowed me to start to reconstruct my garden back to how I want it after the high winds of last year.
I noticed that the first shoots of spring is well underway, and with a bit of luck I have not killed off the plants I moved. It will begin to look better soon, but I think the grass will take a little longer.
Bit like me looking tired.

I am sure your garden will look wonderful
This weekend I saw the first snowdrops of the year in my garden - how they manage to grow despite the constant neglect of my garden amazes me!

I found life creeping though a pile of brick rubble, How they survived I do not know. But they are pushing upward to the light.
If it is still light when I get home (Monday)I will begin to train the roses.it not it will be the weekend.

Its incredible where plants do actually manage to grow and just how they do actually survive!
So how is the garden looking this week?

I got out into the sunsine, of the Garden even if it was to work on it. Removed a Pear tree that the pears are to small, so its had its day, so now that is being recicled.
The roses I quickly put in the ground, last year when they arrived all have shoots, so now without the small tree I will be able to see them, when they flower.
The car.. Well Its not to bad the rear wiper has seized in the middle of the back window, So phoned in for the 11th it does not rain to much

should read .
I do not envisage getting out into the garden this weekend, other to water the plants I have uprooted and moved around. I might just fill in the hole left by the pear tree.
No plants comming into flower, just lots og green leaves. I do so hope for some colour soon.

At least last weekend I have made a start with hard lanscaping the garden. The first Tulips have shone their wonderful salmon pink glory amd wilted, but not a sign od a dafidil, just lots of green leaves. At least I think I will have it ready for when the sun returns
Looking forward to Saturday of to the Balet to see Wethering Heights, a new piece and new music. Should be interesting.

Glad it was fun
Sounds like the garden plans are coming along well. I have just had a few days off work and have been all over the place visiting people Back to work today but in an office nearer here and got to come home in the daylight - the annual parade of daffodils has started - as you come into the village there is a sea of them on either side of the road. As I had a cup of pepperming tea I looked at the ones in my garden - they are great. No tulips yet tho!
So how was the balet?

Good to read that you have had the opertunity to catch up with friends, and time to admire your garden
Your village sounds wonderfull at the moment (shuts eyes and igagines a village with lots of daffs either side of the road.)
My neighbiour an ex gardner commented how early the tulips I have bloom, must be an early viriaty.
I realy enjoyed the ballet, So far I have never been disipointed with the Northen Ballet? Productions. The composeser for Wethering heights was half of the team who wrote the music for Les Misérables, his first ballet. As usual the simple scenic effect brought the greatest applause.
How nice it last night and this morning to be able to be outside in the cool air, with the sun shining. feel so much better. All I need now is the wind in my face and the smell and sound of the sea. (Can only dream)

Great news about Dugness - s should be preserved at all costs in my books! No surprise there. One day I wou,d like to live in one.
Its been another hectic week for me so I am looking forward to a peaceful weekend - hopefully time to catch up with myself. That having been said I do have a lot to do - the poor cottage has been somewhat neglected recently and tonight I am supposed to go to a friends engagement party. I will only know one person there and I have not seen them for a couple of years so I am a little bit apprehensive. I also have to get ready as the next week will be manic - OK so whats different I hear you ask! Well I am actually wokring in the Brum area all week (I think!) if not in the office. Friday night I am going to a hen night in Brum and then on Saturday I will need to call back here, pack and go on holiday via a friends 2 year olds birthday party! By the time I get to the coast I will really need that break! I am looking forward to it
I have booked a cottage with some friends on the Suffolk coast - sea air and local (I hope!)
What have you been up to?

Lightman Posted Mar 30, 2003
Wow...
Take a breath, if you have time. By the time you get to the holiday cottage you will need the refershement of the sea. I'm sure you will find a
Now living in a would keep you fit and slender! all the stairs up and down. bUt wow what a view you would have. I think you would have to expect somwhat rough weather though.
I'm getting the rest I'm needing no more late nights untill after Easter, and looking forward to a break. (may go away myself over the Easter Weekend.) I have no real plans as yet.
At last I can see the battle of the garden being won! Yesterday I could see the shape I wanted. Later i'm off to the garden centre to try to find a nice table, So Lets hope soon enough I will be able to relish the cool morning air of a morning and eat outside.
