A Boy and His Bird
Martin had an albatross;
He kept it as a pet.
Its name was Jedediah and it smelled when it was wet.
Jed loved little Martin,
And Marty, he loved Jed.
He loved that bird so much he had it stuffed when it was dead.
It didn't look too pretty
When molting season came,
And though they'd posed it nat'rally, it wasn't quite the same.
But it didn't bother Martin
That his birdie was no more:
Now he had someone to talk to who he simply couldn't
bore.
Well, Jed was not too sturdy,
And he couldn't hold together,
In spite of two re-stuffings where they glued back all the feathers.
So, sadly, boy and albatross
Had their final parting,
And Mom and Dad, so they won't be sad, plan on stuffing Martin.
