Ruling the country is like cooking a small fish (: tao te ching 60)
Hullo, I'm maggie, and I really don't know what to write here... So I guess I'll start with the (fairly boring) basics - I'm 21, a student in Scotland studying Religion (amongst other fascinating topics such as History of Christianity as a World Religion. This really is as dull as it sounds! Present topics include: 'there can be no such thing as a position from nowhere. Discuss.' The mind bogleth, and I've been studying this for four years.:o) Anyway, I should be finishing soon, at which time I shall be hoping to fulfill my dreams of learning to tune a piano. Although, that was todays dream and I'm fairly sure that by tomorrow I'll have thought of something equally bizarre and obscure to occupy the rest of my life.
As for the other important things, I love music (all kinds, not including 'elevator music' and 'car alarm, dance, nothing but an irritating beat' type music) and films. For a time in school I was quite ill which lead to my Father introducing me to the bbc tapes of the radio version of the Hitchhikers Guide, which lead me to read the books and then watch the videos. So I went on to read the Dirk Gently books, and have been a big Douglas Adams fan ever since. Which lead me here. I was greatly saddened to hear of his sudden death. The saddest thing, I think, is that he probably never knew how much he was loved by so many different people, and what an effect he had. My best friend, who was reading the Hitchhiker trilogy in five parts, at the same time as me commented that they were the only books that had ever made him laugh out loud. And he read a lot.
I'm looking forward to contributing and hopefully being part of something that I think is very exciting - there are so many dull websites out there. Here's to an explanation of spoons and how soap works...!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
