Dougal's Introduction
Who is Dougal? That's a good question, even for him, as new data continually becomes available. As up to date as possible, this is our best near bi-paragraphic attempt:
Dougal is continually searching. For what, even he knows not but the search inevitably goes on...continuously. His thought processing is overwhelmingly visual in nature, constantly absorbing and imaging. The mystery of the detail may hold more weight than the whole in his attempts to find logical order and patterns before him. He is often side-tracked in conversation as he puts the discussion into his "minds eye" for a more perceivable representation of the given material at hand. This material may merge with a multitude of other images bursting into present thought. So many other previous "thought projects", can spur into light, concerning past episodes of contemplation, that "focus" becomes his main challenge while he sorts out the relevance of the conversation to the complex array of questions he is presently searching answers for and at the same time, of course, he is attempting to carry on the current conversation.
Dougal is somewhat goal-directed. The difficulty with being so visual is that he continuously "sees" new goals and is easily drawn from one to the other or is at least forced to think about them within present structures. However, he does come to grips more frequently or thoroughly with himself and his environment than do most people as he can not help but be in continual observation and search of himself and all that is, was, or ever will be about him and his world. He detests superficiality; he'd rather be alone than have to suffer through small talk. His relationships with his friends are highly intensive, which gives him the inner tranquility and harmony that he needs in order to feel good. He prefers a get-together opposed to a party. It is often best not to ask him what he is thinking as he feels he gives you this information as quickly as it forms out of the the cloud of ideas about him. He loves being with others yet he does not mind being alone for extended periods of time and although appearances may be deceiving, he is almost never bored. If this is what is meant by some as an "introvert", so be it.
