Hi Cynth! Hi JEllen!
Silly??
I think you’ve got us on that one! I don’t think we’re so bad by hootoo standards – everyone on that thread took it in their stride!
Today’s flown by, and again, I’m not sure where it went. I’ve just been pottering around, taking for a walk, done some shopping, cooked a curry and played a bit of guitar. Don’t feel like I’ve really done anything though, and the working week is nearly upon me!
JEllen, I take it from your recent taglines you enjoyed The Departed? I don’t usually go to the cinema, so I’ll have a bit of a wait until I get to see it, but I think I’ll be checking out Infernal Affairs in the mean time so I can make a comparison when The Departed comes out on DVD. Would you say its in the same league as Goodfellas?
You may have already told me, cyn, but were you happy with that screenplay once you dissuaded your French colleague from the Carry On style? Are you going to resist working with him again?
I’ve run out of stuff to say. I know, I know – I’m obviously not entirely well yet!
Catch you later

Enjoyed The Departed? Yes, a wee bit.
I'm embarassed to admit I never saw Goodfellas, so I can't compare. But The Departed is a superb cat and mouse game.

Hola Wile E!
How are you tonight?
I hope there wasn't too much of the Z O M B I E about at the office today...*sigh* Mondays will be Mondays...don't talk to me about Mondays...Marvinisms!
And to think we were concerned about zombies!
I have no idea what JEllen's on about with this whole silliness accusation. Not once have we done anything even remotely resembling something that could be considered "silly". What we do here is logical, law-abiding and cute as the dickens. How could that be misconstrued as silly? Look...I've even typed an entire paragraph without the use of gratuitous smileys*hyperventilates and is turning blue* and put forth my wholesome ideas in a rational, sober, coherent manner.
Sorry...I just sneezed.
But you *do* get my point, don't you? How could she possibly see us as silly people at all?
About that French colleague of mine. His Carry On style was completely discarded and the adaptation went on in a concise yet flowing style with subtle contrasts and subtext. It was very well received and not very many changes have to be made as it is a fairly faithful treatment of the original material. He annoys the heck out of me but we turn out reliably marketable stuff... and he keeps recommending me for all sorts of projects and speaks glowingly of our collaborative dealings to others in the industry. What would you do It's very uncomfortable w*rking with this gentleman but we tend to spur each other on to produce great material when we do w*rk together...I've been very picky with choosing projects offered to me because companies invariably want us to w*rk together as a team and I'm only willing to do so sporadically. I give my concert performing scheduling commitments as a valid excuse; but I really don't want to w*rk with him any more than I need to. *sigh* *more sighs*
I arrived lateat ballet class this morning and the instructor glared at me as I was fumbling to get my ballet slippers on and threatened,"Yahoo vant ayee shoot vah-hoopp yahoor haaas, yunk laydee?*whacks pointy stick inches from my feet*Hooray ahhp!*expectorate*
He resisted tanning my hide just barely when I stumbled over the studio door threshold before taking my place at the barre. The lesson went on with no further incident. I even managed not to give my partner a hernia when he practiced slow lifts with me today.
Hope to catch you later Wile E.!

Hi Cynth!
Hello jasmine. *whispers to Cynth,* Just how many chocolatey walls *are* there around here?
Good to hear that all Kenneth Williams overtones were removed from the adaptation of a classic like that! Despite my fondness for humour, I never really clicked with the Carry On films. Like most British cinema (with some notable exceptions), its just plain embarrassing!
I'm not sure what's the best thing is to do, regarding your French colleague. Since your main career focus is singing, you don't have a pressing need to work with him on regular basis, but if you're producing really good work with him that is getting you noticed, I don't think you should stay away entirely. I think it depends on how important screenwriting is to you, and what impact it has on your other work. I imagine working with him is quite distracting and time consuming, and somehow I think its unlikely he's going to change!
What you're doing seems to be sensible. He's very eager to work with you, so you can probably afford to be choosy and hold out for the better projects at times that are better for you.
You've been very busy with singing in recent months - is the work going to continue at that pace? I think you need to be careful about how much work you take on - you've got a lot on your plate and don't want to risk burning out!
I did a double-take on your instructors comments before I understood it properly!
Have you started on the routine for that Devo track yet?
I talked to SS last night, and he was very much the worse for wear after the weekend. He played the Withnail and I drinking game on Saturday and still hadn't recovered. You gather all the drinks that are featured in the film and then have to match Withnail drink for drink! You have to pause the film on each one and can't continue until everyone's finished or passed out. The lighter fluid is optional.
As a student, I failed to find anyone (including SS) who dared play that game, but I think I'm well past it now. The last time I saw it, I kept an eye on Withnail's alcohol consumption and it's potentially a trip to hospital. SS said he got about half way through the film before he crawled away to bed!
Oh, his car got repaired, but broke down again lat Friday. I think there’ll be a new one after his next paycheck!
Catch you later

Hola Wile E.!
How are you doing? You've made it to another Friday!!!
Did you notice that I went missing for a while?
A sink hole opened up down the road from me and my internet service was down all this time while they re-routed and reinforced things with concrete and made a lot of impressive noise.
I'm at the airport... on my way to the concert venue and my hotel. So this is just a short note to let you know I'm alright and that I wasn't swallowed up by that sink hole. Somebody's Mercedes *was*, though. Lovely neighbourhood I live in, huh?
Tomorrow night's concert is being sponsored by a fashion company that provided my dress and is trying to convince me to make one wardrobe change in the middle of the concert. They want me to wear 2 of their designs. Can you imagine what the maestro will think of that? I haven't told him of this yet. Do you think I ought to...or should I just let him find out for himself and let him go ballistic when he does
Btw, the reason I signed on to be guest artist at this concert was because most all of the proceeds are going to breast cancer research. October is breast cancer awareness month. My normal performance fee is going to the Breast Cancer Haven and UK Cancer Research. The fashion company is matching donations from the art patrons attending this musical event. So it's important that I actually go along with their wishes regarding the gowns they wish for me to wear.
Won't the maestro just love all of this?
My flight is being called to board right now.
What are you up to tonight? Hope to see you a bit later!

Hi there Wile E!
Hope you're feeling much better after a goodnight's sleep and a lie-in this morning. Yesterday at the office, from what you hinted of it, sounded a bit unpleasant. I hope the s chased the remnants of those memories away so you can get on with your weekend.
And I'm overjoyed about the good results of some of those tests!!! I know how relieved you must be and I share in that relief along with you! Things are really looking up for her; which is what I was fervently hoping for all along!
Yahoo was acting so ! I kept posting you things and they'd show up on my window just fine. Then there would be long pauses where you weren't getting my posts at all and then one of your posts got lost... it must have been more Friday the 13th stuff going on there. There's nothing else to explain that ness...
Anyway here are the links...

*giggles* Now lurkers will think you're some sort of person keen on fancy frocks!!!
Sorry. Fashion is no laughing matter.
Dress rehearsal went dreadfully...
I think I'm coming down with a cold. My head was all stuffed up and I was sniffling a lot. As long as things don't get exponentially worse today, I should be able to pull off a fairly decent performance tonight.
The conductor was sneezing and looked rheumy. Reed players were wretching and coughing. Violinists were wiping their noses on their sleeves during rest measures.
Then we kept hearing a squeaking-grating sound from the back of the stage. It kept on sounding off from the same direction, but we never did find out what it could possibly have been. It wasn't loud, but it was audible enough for us to be distracted by it more than a few times.
Suddenly a very loud crashing sound emanated from the left wing. We checked on the cause. A maintenance w*rker had fallen from a metal stairwell and cut the side of his head on the railing and grates. Blood slicked all over the stairs and the poor man's face and clothes. Yet, he insisted that he was okay enough to drive his car the 2 blocks to the hospital. I looked at the gaping wound near his head and it seemed that there wasn't any blood actually flowing out at that point but we gave him some sterile gauze pads from the first aid kit to cover the wound area, sent a stage manager to follow him ...and went on with the Alleluia movement of the Exsultate, Jubilate motet that I was singing at the time.
The stage manager came back an hour later to tell us that the w*rker was alright and was seen to immediately at the emergency room. 13stitches were used to close the wound and he was sent home. He told the stage manager that the last thing he remembered before losing his step on the stairs was that he was wondering whether the high floating sounds from the stage were being made by a voice or a musical instrument from the orchestra...
I sent him 2 tickets for the performance for tonight so he'll have a chance to see and hear for himself as an audience member.
So that's what happened at the rehearsal. I tried on both dresses and they won't be needing any alterations before the show. And they feel surprisingly comfortable, too. I guess I was meant to wear laced and trussed up things without problems.
I'd better get to bed now.I'll tell you about the hotel(great mountain views out my windows)later. Help yourself to the marble jacuzzi tub, mini bar(Guiness!)(I've hid the vodka!) and room service. I already danced in my underwear past the window and bounced on the bed when I arrived earlier, but you're welcome to do so if you want to anytime you please.
See you later Wile E!

Hello Cynth
*tries to act cool and nonchalant about her return*
You’ve been gone?
Good to have you back, m’dear!
A sinkhole! Good to hear that the ground didn’t swallow you up! Was your internet connection still down when you left home? What was life without the internet like for three days? I’m starting to find it hard to imagine now!
*shoos away all the remaining . What was up with yahoo last night? It normally goes on the fritz when my internet connection is unstable, but that seemed perfectly fine last night. Towards the end, the only post I got off you was a few smileys to say goodbye.
Did you get my post with the link to the card I sent you? Did that card ever turn up?
I’m not superstitious, but yesterday was full of inconveniences like that. If my posts last night gave the impression that something awful happened at work – it wasn’t that, just lots of minor stuff that made the day stressful.
I had an important day with those monitors and arrived very late because I overslept and couldn’t get my car started for a while. Everything I’d booked and organised for them fell through, and I had lots of disgruntled board members staring at me as I made lots of frantic phone calls to reorganise things at the last minute.
The day carried on in that manner, but improved in the late afternoon when I saw you had posted here, and then when I got home and found out about those results. Yes, I’m very relieved!
Before I met you, I had no idea about the amount of bloodshed surrounding classical performances! Good to hear you had an awful Friday 13th rehearsal. Tonight should be splendid!
Oh dear, the maestro isn’t going to be happy with this at all! I think it’s probably best to just let him find out for himself at the performance tonight. I think you’ll be stuck with a very indignant maestro after the performance, but what can you do? Like you said, its for a very good cause.
No movies this weekend, and my plans to go down to Nottingham today have fallen through. Did I tell you about that? Not having a film to watch last night meant I had a look at the TV listings and I found a fantastic Don Letts documentary on Sun Ra on BBC Four. Very interesting. I’ve heard some of his music before, but knew very little beyond that. Have you heard any of his music before?
Goodbyle Lennin is on BBC Four tonight, so I might watch that. I’ve seen the first half of it before, and enjoyed it very much. It’s also a good counterargument to people who claim Germans have no sense of humour.
I’ll be around later, but if I don’t manage to catch you, I’ll be thinking of you and hope the performance goes well tonight.
Catch you later

*gives the kissy monkey a sedate hug as she passes by his prayer rug and waist high stacks of zen teachings and self help books...*
Hello Wile E!
When I came in from my flight home after midnight, the kissy monkey gave me a minimalist kiss and bow, then returned to his prayer rug! He's made a lot of progress without those cattle prods and that we tried on him before!
How was your day? I had a moderate case of the sniffly z o m b i e this morning, but a neighbour and I drove up to a canyon park(mostly to see if there was much fire damage up there) that my big bro often digs for fossils at for a short hike and a boulder climb. It was looking quite nice. The fire never jumped the ridge, so the grove of aspens were a resplendent column of shimmery yellow gold and there were many varieties of birds filling the autumn air with their songs.
When I got back home, I had to deal with what my dear cousins left me during my absence.
They had covered the surface of the pool with mini orange and black balloons which I had cleared away this morning, only to find...
the body of George W. Bush at the bottom of the pool!
They had weighted down a stuffed suit, shirt and tie, mens shoes and a Dubya mask on top of a tan pillowcase and placed it at the deep end of my pool. They probably expected me to retrieve it last night- because I could see a green glowstick behind the eyes of the mask.
I've yet to dive in and retrieve the dummy. I'll wait until it's a bit warmer in a few hours. And I have the sneaking suspicion there are some more 'surprises' for me yet to find.*sigh*
They left a great pile of Halloween candy in a bowl on my kitchen table.
There was only a wiggly gel-filled plastic hand in there to be found as mildy prankish- and I've been eating candy corn ,Smarties(not the chocolate ones but the US sour fizzy tablet ones)and assorted s,bones, vampire fangs and bloodshot eyeballs this morning.
I haven't read my reviews from the concert yet. I might just wait until the maestro tells me about the ones he chooses to mention.
I've listened to quite a bit of Sun Ra in the past. I've got a couple of his albums. One which was nicked by my big bro, of course.
I may be off to see Devo sometime near or on Halloween! Some of the list guys are getting tickets today. If we can't get tickets for that, we're going to see Wall of Voodoo play somewhere or other...
I got home late because our luggage was delayed due to some security procedural holdup at the Burbank airport. I wasn't about to leave until I got that expensive gown back in my possession. After an hour and a half wait, it finally turned up. My luggage smelled strangely smoky and I wondered what had gone on in the cargo hold of that plane!
Ah well! Back to cautiously scanning my home for cousin pranks...
See you soon Wile E!

Wile E Quixote Posted Oct 17, 2006
Hello m'dear
I see its not far off Halloween. I tried to come up with an anagram last year, but I'm not very good at word games and I don't think Wile E Quixote is an easy one. *scratches head*
I wonder if it'll take off like last year. It was really confusing to read the bigger threads, but fun trying to work out who was who from either their names or the way they wrote. It was even more interesting on the debate threads because you loose the baggage of your assumptions about someoneand maybe read the posts differently, assuming that any 'forthright' opinions didn't immediately give them away.
How're you feeling today? Is that cold any better? I'm still a bit zombiefied today as I got stuck with a five hour meeting at our area office. A meeting of that length is just stupid, I don't think anything from the last couple of hours stayed in my head. I kept zoning out, *monkeygrunt*... before suddenly coming back to reality and hearing something like “wafflewaffle waffle key performance target waffle.” Everyone else looked totally spaced out so I think I got away with it!
You seem to be amassing bodies of famous republicans whenever you leave home. I wonder who you'll find next! What surprises have you found today? At least they left sweets! Those fizzy sour sweets are one of those sweets that I can’t stop eating once I’ve had one.
I also went to have my hair cut today. It’s the first time I’ve had it cut since just before I went on holiday, so it had got very long, messy and unmanageable. I told them I wanted it quite a bit shorter, but not this short! Always being a traumatic experience, I kept my eyes downcast and didn’t look in the mirror, so I had a bit of a shock when I looked up. I’m used to seeing a big mane of hair, but now its well above my shoulders and looks neat and tidy. I’d told her exactly how much I wanted chopped off so I’ve been miffed and sulky since then. I just looked in the mirror five minutes ago and my head looks too small!
I think you’re lucky none of your luggage was damaged. I think its probably better if you don’t know how it happened. It doesn’t bear thinking about if it happened during the flight!
I didn’t know Devo were still together! I hope they managed to get tickets for it. How is your Devo ballet routine going? I’ve never heard of Wall of Voodoo. What kind of music is it?
Catch you later

*takes care not to stare too conspicuously at his different looking hair but places an iridescent pink hooded parka near him in case it might help...*
Hello Wile E!
How are you tonight? I hope your day was a lot better than yesterday's exercise in tedium at that 5 hour meeting and then the trauma of that overzealous hair cut. It doesn't look that bad!*eyes the hooded jacket pointedly* Once you get used to that neat and tidy look , you'll find it really doesn't make your head look *that* much smaller.
*squints her eyes and cocks her head while trying to get an advantageous angle of his newly shorn... smaller... head*
I got my hair trimmed last week before heading off to Colorado. My hair had reached hip length again and it was threatening to take over my existence so I immediately went to my hairstylist. He looked me over in unequivocal disdain and then asked me what I was wearing to the concert. He ordered me to shake and fluff, then he set to w*rk by taking 6 inches off !!! As he was doing that, he ordered me to condition it with a fruit and olive oil masque, wash it gently and to style it exactly as he was going to show me. He twisted strands of hair, twirled them around a large ceramic curling iron, released the tendrils with a flourish, had me bend forward and ran a small amount of organic styling gel from the back of my head to the sides, pulling up from my roots and ordered me to stand up to shake and fluff again. Then he finger styled it into waves and curly ends and said he was finished. I asked him when he was going to use a brush or comb in my hair...
He exploded, "NO!!! No combs or brushes must touch your head! FINGERS only!!! Now, show me the technique I showed you and maybe I will let you leave my salon! The gown you will be wearing will only take this styling and you must...MUST...get it right. Get it right and I will allow you to leave."
Apparently I MUST have got it right. I'm just wondering what would have happened if I hadn't.*visions of herself sweeping up hair from the floor for months while subsisting on cast off stylists sushi and sleeping curled up next to the shampoo basin fill her squirrely mind...*
I'm just now getting used to less of a wild mane on my head now- so I can appreciate what you must be going through.*sigh*
Your hair must have been half way down your back if it's been before your holiday that you last had it cut! In your picture your hair was stylishly long but rather tidy and that's a really good look for you. Plus*rare voice of reason breaking through the giddy giggles* your hair will probably be at that same stylish and tidy length soon and be quite job interview ready.
I'm feeling a whole lot better today. I was at the homeless shelter today and came home early so I wouldn't overdo things too much.
We served up cheese and chicken enchiladas, salad, refried beans and rice, apple juice and apple empanadas(kind of like turnovers). There were over 270 guests and we'll be seeing an increase in numbers as soon as the weather turns cooler. It's been warm and windy today. You'd think it was spring, if not for the liquid amber, ash and maple trees in autumn finery.
Here's some photos that I took on Monday and Tuesday mornings when I headed up the hill 10 miles from my canyon for some morning hikes.
http://img179.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img179/4933/1161154817m1w.smil
I finally got that Canon Sure Shot digital camera in the mail while I was away this past weekend.
We got tickets to see Devo on Halloween!!!
Never heard of Wall of Voodoo and Stan Ridgway?
You've probably heard their song, 'Mexican Radio'.
it's here on their myspace site somewhere on the left hand side halfway down the page...
http://www.myspace.com/wallofvoodoo
They play most of their tunes in a minor key. Hard to describe them, really. Their site puts it as succinctly as possible, though.
My routine to Devo's rendition of Satisfaction is already choreographed and down on paper. It involves a lot of running full speed at one another, lopsided spins, tumbles, pratfalls, near misses and a couple of head butts... just your average dainty delicate bit of ballet flummery!
All these sweets wrappers around my computer desk is a dead giveaway that I'm undone by wanton Halloween candy consumption!*sweeps wrappers into the bin and opens another bag of sour fizzy sweets rolls...*
Hope you're having a relaxing night.
*slaps some organic styling gel onto the back of his head and tugs at his roots in a tried aadn true volumizing lifting technique...*
There's always the pink hooded parka for you until it grows out a bit...*shrugs*

Hello O Nicest One!
*eyes the pink parka and looks back politely*
*gives in and puts it on quickly, pulling up the hood* Much better! My head doesn't feel as small now!
Six inches! *faints and then pulls himself up, making some attempt to look more manly from within the pink parka* My hair's growth slowed down after a few months of not being cut, so it wasn't quite as long as you might think, but it was getting very unmanageable. I don't know how you cope with it going down to your hips! I think hair that length on women is attractive, but it must be very hard work and uncomfortable through the summer heat.
I confess to using the FINGERS only!!! technique, but that's more to do with the morning rush, rather than fashion considerations!
Thanks for the anagrams, you two. That's quite a list JEllen! I guess it wasn't as hard as I thought it was, but why do all the hard work when you can get others to do it for you?
I think I'll cycle through a few of them over the next week or so. That should make it a little more confusing out on the threads. I wonder if it'll be as confusing as last Halloween?
Do you think you'll be going to that concert in fancy dress, Cyn? Devo aren't averse to odd costumes, so I imagine they'll be going all out on Halloween!
Nope, I've definitely not heard of Wall of Voodoo and that song doesn't sound familiar either! Sounds pretty though.
I had a more relaxing day at work today, so more time for lurking. I needed that after the last few days. A lot of the work I do seems to come in waves and I think things will settle down for the next week or so, before the next set of deadlines start looming.
After work, I got to test the recent training and behaviour of when I took him to the vets for his annual shots. It was *far* from a resounding success. Generally, his behaviour has really improved, but in situations where he gets very excited, there's nothing you can say or do to calm him.
Unlike most dogs, he loves going to the vets! Our old dog used to stiffen his legs and refuse to move when he got to the entrance, but bounds in! He loves getting to see the other animals and greeting the receptionist and the vet, who both make it much worse by making a fuss over him.
This time, there were a couple of terriers cowering under the bench and he isn't keen on little dogs, so he tried his best to pull me behind the desk to the receptionist. Being held on the lead makes him look like he's tap-dancing on the tile floor!
The vet popped his head around the door to say hello, which produced another flurry of tap-dancing, and then I had to put up with whining and barking until he got to say hello to the vet. He didn't even cringe when he got his shot and immediately started wagging his tale and more tap-dancing.
On the way home he got car-sick and my car stinks of cleaning products and air freshener now.
I stopped off and got myself sour mix sweets on the way home today. They're all gone now!
Catch you later

* dances and hops around with limp wrists to a bit of a groovy tune for a Saturday... http://www.alteringtime.com/features/misc/?p=baggins&PHPSESSID=cd0c1e281dc222ef00c112d249c09cea*
Hello QE, Ow!
How's your Saturday been so far?
I've been doing laundry and dancing the Bilbo Baggins dance with a couple of my cousins here. Before that, I was at the ballet studio practicing the two November routines with my long suffering partner. Poor fellow.I knocked the air out of him today by not stopping in time while rushing at him at top speed. He ended up being thrown against a mirrored wall and crumpling up in a heap upon the floor... We finally got the move right - after 5 more tries.I've only got a couple of bruises on my back and arm from being lifted and caught. My ballet instructor was actually rather amused by our bashing about and broke into spontaneous a few times out of sheer delight.Which shouldn't have surprised me. *shrugs and makes her wrists go limp* But it did.
My internet went down last night and came back on after lunch today. The service rep said that they were doing normal Friday maintenance but then it suddenly wouldn't go back on afterwards. Not exactly confidence inspiring words of comfort.*sigh*
6 inches of hair trimmed off *sounds* like a lot, but I normally go in for 2-3 inch trims every couple of months. My hair behaves itself much better when it's longer than waist length because , as my hairstylist put it,"Gravity, my sugarplum, is your special ally. Do not work against it and it will work for your hair. Now, shake and fluff. Bend over. Toss it around. Fluff and shake. See? Gravity will take care of you"
My hair looks like wayward shrubbery if it's short. With length it almost passes for human tresses. And it's very easy care. I just wash it every day and air dry it. Drying only takes 20-30 minutes. Gathering it all up in a topknot makes it all wavy and curly at the ends when it's worn down. I only use curling irons and styling gels when I have to.
I've been to a couple of Devo concerts before. Once, I borrowed a plastic terra cotta flower pot for my head and a space blanket halter top. Another time(it was Halloween then, too) I went as Frida Kahlo with paper flowers mounded in my hair, a unibrow, arrayed in Mexican peasant dress and a stuffed monkey and several Diego Riveras at my side.*giggles* I think you would have liked that one!
I don't know what to do this year...do you have any ideas?
So what's tonight's film? I saw Fargo last night. I'm supposed to see a newly released DVD of yet another documentary about Glenn Gould, starring Glenn Gould, the genius master virtuoso Canadian pianist- constantly claiming that he detested Glenn Gould audiences!
Don't worry, I'm not studying him as a role model!
See you later Wile E!

Hi Nicest!
Thanks for reminding me of that song. I can't get it out of my head!
Alert!
Full zombie status today, I'm afraid. I didn't sleep very well last night, so I've spent the day staggering around in a zombie-like fashion, drinking lots of coffee, and not doing very much work. It'll be a busy one tomorrow to catch up. I wish I could function like a human being on less than eight hours sleep!
But I've got used my head's new size, so its not all been bad. It no longer looks to me like an ostrich head, and will be just right once my hairs grown by another inch.
Zombification did give me some time to do some lurking today though. I read about your mum. How is she today? It must be difficult knowing that she can keel over like that at any moment.
Frida Kahlo! I wish I could've seen you sporting that monobrow! Mmm, I'm not having much success in thinking of anything as good as that. I'll try and think of something tomorrow, when my brain will hopefully be functioning better!
Did you watch that Glenn Gould documentary? Any good? I don't know a great deal about him other than that he was a very eccentric pianist renown for his performances of Bach. I've only heard one recording, which sounded stunning, but do you think his life would be subject to quite so much attention without those eccentricities?
You'll never get anywhere without cultivating that artistic disdain! Or you could try frothing at the mouth instead.
I may be around later, but I don’t think I’ll be on very late. If I don’t catch you, see you later m’dear

* somersaults past security wearing her striped pyjamas...*
Hello stranger!
A very happy Friday to you and I hope all is calmer there at the office.*frisks him for vending machine sweets*
My silly internet service was down for a couple of days. Now that it's back up, it takes 5 minutes to load a page. At first I thought it might just be the fault of my Mac in my bedroom. So I tried out the Mac in the kitchen. Treacly slow there. Then, I turned on my trusty super fast laptop...slow as mud.*sigh* I got in touch with a company internet service support online and he painstakingly explained to me that my service would be running slow due to momentary 'problems'. He then told me that all would be fixed when the repairs are carried out to completion by their skilled professional technicians...I'm hoping it will be back to normal after I have a requisite dose of early morning unconsciousness.
How's the hair looking today? *ruffles his hair for maximum volume*
I don't think that looks anything like an ostrich head!
You're just still a bit self-conscious and sensitive about it, that's all. Still, there are things to do that will aid you in making the proportions more balanced. You might want to stay away from clothing that emphasises the lack of your usual hair volume. For example; certain patterns may not be advisable whilst growing out your hair. Here's a graphic display of what horizontal stripes can do, if you're not careful.

Just say NO to horizontal stripes for now!
I still haven't figured out what I'll be wearing on Halloween.
People have suggested , a post apocalyptic ballerina, a DNA molecule, a 30's gangster moll with mobster escorts, a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, Tinkerbell, an escaped patient in a straight jacket with orderlies, and candy corn.
What do you think?
That Glenn Gould documentary night turned out to be quite goofy. The cousins had gone out and bought some big day-glo pop art emblazoned t-shirts and we all put on beauty facial masques in blue, green, and pink hues while breaking into * Bilbo!* dance moves as Gould sang (quite badly)to himself while playing flawless Bach and then * Bilbo!* making very effort not to have any needless contact with his fans as he went on tour - constantly followed by film cameras and klieg lights...*Bilbo!*.
He really was an absolute genius and supremely talented pianist but his need for attention and being misunderstood made him such a sad character. You'd see him in authentic moments where he would be totally immersed with the joy and beauty of the music and just wish he could stay with that reality. Having reached those heights in becoming one with beautifully pure music, I suppose real life was a bit of a let down for him. Most mundane things seemed an obstacle to what he desired most. So he lived a intriguingly complex life to the eyes of the casual observer. But he lived it fully through his music.
I'd never get away with frothing at the mouth while performing. My enunciation would suffer as I'd deign to impress my unworthy audiences with perfectly exquisite foreign phrases that they'd know nothing of. Not to mention the dry cleaning bills that would ensue.
What's planned for your weekend? I'm hoping to spend mine quietly. But seeing as it's so close to Halloween, that's probably only so much wishful thinking...*sigh*
I think I'll stock up on some more Halloween sweets... for the trick or treaters...it's always good to be ready in advance!
See you later Wee Xili Quote( I just noticed that you could also be Lewi Exotique)!

Stop trying to steal my sweets! You’ve got more than enough!
Hello m’dear
How did you know I was wearing a jumper with horizontal stripes today? Have you been having funny dreams again? *mooches off in a sulk and comes back wearing a non-stripy jumper*
Close you eyes and relax into a deep sleep. Less ostrich-like now?
Yes, things were more settled when I returned to work, and not nearly so interesting and exciting! I’ve not been too busy, so I’ve had a bit of lurking time. But you’ve not been here to lurk! *monkey-sulk*
Good to hear that your internet service is back to normal. Hope it gets back up to speed soon. Mine is still very erratic, but seems to be holding out so far. The problem with the new service we signed up to is that we can’t get out of it for a year without coughing up even more money. As we can actually get online, we’re going to stick with it for now.
How’re things with your mum? Is she managing to walk at all? I hope it isn’t taking up all your time looking after her. Are you finding the time to flatten your ballet partner and yodel at the maestro?
*thinks* Group costumes are always good, but I think you’ll soon tire of wearing a straightjacket! I like the post-apocalyptic ballerina idea! I can see that at a Devo gig! What are you going to do to achieve the post-apocalyptic look if you go for that costume? I think there should be an undead element to it, but then I would!
The only suggestion I could think up was (no surprises here) Monkey! Bushy eyebrows, sideburns, a staff and a pink flying cloud. With persuading, you could get the others to dress up as Pigsy, Sandy and Tripitaka.
I think post-apocalyptic ballerina still gets my vote though.
I’ve got two very different films lined up tonight. Not sure what I’m going to pick yet. Miyazaki’s My Neighbour Totoro and a British film, Pierrepoint. I’ve got a soft spot for anime and Miyazaki is peerless. I can’t see this as being better than Spirited Away, but it does look lovely. What do you think of Miyazaki?
Albert Pierrpoint was the last hangman in Britain, and a very intriguing character. Timothy Spall plays him, and his performance got fantastic reviews, so it looks like a film worth checking out.
Oh, great anagram! I’ll be using that sometime soon. It’s a good thing I’ve got you and JEllen around to think of these for me!
I catch you later if you’re around.

Hello Lewi Exotique!
Your new moniker suits you very well!
You definitely couldn't stay ignored and unloved with a name like that!
It kind of sounds like a Keanu lookalike Tahitian gigolo.
Not that I would know much at all about something as worldly or unsavoury as that...
How was your dinner out tonight? I hope your father had a terrific birthday. Did he do any karaoke?
My post-apocalyptic ballerina costume is all ready for tomorrow and my ballet instructor loaned me 5 additional tulle tutus for my burly bloke escorts, who will be wearing coalminer helmets and airforce jumpsuits. I think we've got all the accoutrements needed for a fun night out with Devo...D-E-V-O...
What are you handing out to the trick or treaters this year? I stocked up on Kit Kats, Hershey Kisses, Butterfingers, Snickers and more bloodshot eye gumballs. I Might let them have some of the fizzy sour sweets...but we'll see.
I admit, I'm hoarding some all for myself.
*sniffle* There are wrappers everywhere now!
But I could quit if I wanted to...couldn't I?
I also think I'm on my way to becoming a cyber-groupie.
Take a look at my MySpace friends list.
One of them actually reminded me that I had the wrong terminology when thanking him for an add. I was supposed to be technically thanking him for a request. MySpace pedantry already!
I'm wondering if there's a way to just sit there and lurk and still have access to blogs and searches. It's all those goofball cousins' fault! They've had their laughs regarding the quality of friends I'd make if I accepted every request. I'm thinking of making my account private pretty soon. *sigh*I'm sure things would be a lot more manageable that way.
So how did things at the office go today? Did the height ofz o m b i e d o m wear away eventually? *shudders*
I'm listening to that Brazilian jazz podcast that GP made. It's awfully good!
*flutters her eyelashes*See you later, Lewi!
