I have absolutely no idea what your message meant.
Can you expand it a little?

you mentioned a band or something called the 'family' you went to see. i was wondering if you were referring to new model army or someone else...

OIC.
Sorry pardon. It was a gig by the rock band from Leicester called Family. Not 'the' Family, or 'a' Family, just 'Family' with the gravelly voiced lead singer, Roger Chapman.
Also, sorry for the delay in responding, I've been away for a few days.

Going back a couple of posts, were you referring to the real New Model Army (IIRC weren't they Oliver Cromwell's bunch of brigands) or the band of that name?

Well the band, I doubt you'd get a chance to see Oliver Cromwels band of ruffians unless you have access to rather more advanced technology than the rest of us.
Although i think there were political reasons for the band NMA to chose that name. They are also known as 'the family' by their fans you see due to the way that their fans are very frinedly and the camaderie at their gigs (one of those places that if you turn up on your own, you're inundated with offers of lifts back, places to crash etc).. this is why i was confused....

Fairy nuff.
But I was never a punk fan really (too old, you see), I'm more a tree huggin' hippy progressive rock fan. I couldn't tell you the name of a single song by NMA, mainly because I don't know any. However, I could rattle off a huge list of Family's work.

Oh you would probably actually like nma. despite the name they are not punky at all, the sound is more folk-rock.... people who go to the gigs are characterised by their landrovers, non-leather clothes and vegan eating habits =) Fair enough given all my ranting on my page you might think any band i liked was punk but this one you might enjoy....
there are some absolutely beautiful songs by them, sadly the only one you'd likely have heard was 'vengeance' (i believe in justice, i believe in vengeance, i believe in killing the b*****ds..) which is pretty atypical of their stuff (usually much more subtle and melodic) but unfortunately became very popular with football types a couple of years back...
have you heard of the Tanzads? Theyre a folk-hippy-rock band from up north somewhere, i heard a couple of songs by them but could never find thier album or anything...

No, I don't know the Tanzads and I've been unable to find any info on them via search engines and music suppliers. Where did you hear them?
The problem I find is that there's so much music out there and so little time to listen to it all. And some of it's crap, of course. I've widened my musical horizons in the last couple of years by listening to Late Junction on Radio 3 (Mon-Thur, 10:30 to 00:05 usually). I can thoroughly recommend it.
Key: Complain about this post
