Thank you, that feels better.
I've just had a BIG shock. I went back to my personal space and all my conversations had disappeared. My introduction read: welcome to the personal space of researcher 171266. Unfortunately researcher 171266 hasn't written anything yet.... Blind panic. Had I just dreamt the last 6 months of opening the new account, writing an intro and making hundreds of postings? Thankfully it appears back to normal now
but the connection is very slow and I don't know how long I'll be able to post for.

Its a bit odd really - for me now as we speak h2g2 is as fast as it has been all week, but loads of people have been having similar problems - you are at least the third person I have talked to who has had exactly the same problem this week...
The weird thing is that it can be sooo slllloooww for some whilst being speedy for others....
have a and maybe you'll feel better

Please join me Do you like the ambience. I've turned all my lights off and lit some candles. Very relaxing
Got my favourite incense burning too. Might get eyestrain looking at the computer in the dark but what the heck.

Ah yes, ambience, that which I so often pine for forced as I am to do so much of my online communication in public computer labs.... thankgoodness for h2g2 where I can hang out in lovely places such as this where the air conditioning is not turned up to high and where the lights such as they are are soft and gentle....

You can imagine listening to my Frank Sinatra CD if it helps
For once in my life I won't let sorrow hurt me...

I wish sunbeams were enough to wake me - am short of an alarm clock at the moment and am having to rely on my watch to wake me up... if I was less addicted to h2g2 I would find time to go and collect my stereo and the majority of my CDs from the flat I left them at for all of last year, but I just havent found the time... ought to do it though, as then I can hook stereo up to timer thing I have and have radio or cassette come blaring on in morning to wake me up.....
Hope today is going better than yesterday for you vp

Not having a good day. The bus was very late this morning and this put me in a bad mood before I'd even got to college. I didn't sleep well either so that didn't help. I have taken sanctuary in a computer lab and I'm experiencing h2g2 vp style
I am trying hard to imagine I'm supping
and receiving
s rather than sitting in an overcrowded room trying to type using a keyboard that's awful. You're right you know, the air-conditioning and lighting in here is just right and oh, the mood music. Thank you for bringing a little Aretha into my life this lunchtime

I think the best bit about public labs is the millimeter of dead skin cells on every key - you press them down, lift your finger, and as it partx from the keyboard, just sticks a little giving you a slight pulling sensation in your finger tips, lovely
Anyway, tis the weekend so its not all bad

Ooo you are naughty
Relaxing indeed - the sax solo is just heavenly - so soft, so airy, just divine....

I dont know which is worse - the fact that it cant find my user space and tells me that I havent had time to put anything there yet, or the fact that it does so in Alabaster

deackie Posted Oct 12, 2001
Oh dear You've got that problem tonight. Hopefully it will resolve itself soon. I'm not a goo girl I'm an alabaster queen so I'm pleased you're living in my world for a very brief time
Guess what? Still me :-p

I think I have finally caught up with the backlog of postings and I've even got around to changing the GuideML on my page so my lists work, and I still found a little time to glance through Peer Review. I'm sure I must have forgotten to do something in RL *checks diary* Nope, I seem to be doing OK
shock, horror, organisation
Can I pick your brain now? I'd like that little grey bit, no, that bit on the left, further back than that, down a bit, you've got it, that's the bit.... or you could just tell me how you managed to get a picture behind the lists on your page if that would be easier and a little less drastic
Guess what? Still me :-p
vogonpoet (AViators at A13264670) Posted Jan 31, 2002
To be honest I am not sure how I managed to get the picture to to do that.. I mean it wasnt a concious effort or anything, I just got lucky
The picture comes first, embedded onto the right, then the links are in a table of course, and thats it... On wide/high res enough screens the coffee dude is next to the links rather than under them.
You can of course see what I did with <./>testuserpage174321</.> .
I just got lucky really . Well I have to go now, so catch ya later,
Guess what? Still me :-p

I did check the code for your page first, just couldn't seem to recreate it. Sadly my monitor is unable to cope with a high resolution I did tell you at the meet that my computer was nothing to write home about. I have a 15" screen but if I up the resolution and colour settings the whole thing goes squiffy (a technical term
) I might have to fiddle about with the GuideML on my page some time but I'm having a tough enough time just keeping up with the backlog of postings, I can't believe how many have accumulated in just 11hrs.
