Oh I have already been there,
It gave me a little bit of a scare,
My worth do I doubt,
To such academic ,
But I anyway shall visit your lair

Whoops, sorry about that, totally meant to have last line as:
But anyway I shall....
I had anyway after the I shall, realised error of scan ways, then cut and paste it to wrong place .
Shall have to preview more often, and be up late less if I am to improve, tsk tsk

Btw, that limerick doesn't sound right to me (but what do I know?). I thought it was 9-9-5-5-9. You've got 8-10-5-7-10, which sounds really odd to me. Hmm... Is it even a limerick?

Hmm well yes, technically a limerick should be:
Ta-da-daa Ta-da-daa Ta-da-daa,
Ta-da-daa Ta-da-daa Ta-da-daa,
Ta-da daa da da daa,
Ta-da daa da da daa,
Ta-da-daa Ta-da-daa Ta-da-daa.
However, use of pauses instead of words can maintain the rhythm of the limerick, and shorten the number of syllables, and is perfectly valid limerick technique.
Less valid is the increasing of the number of syllables in order to fit more content into ones limerick, however, with limericks one may do pretty much what one wants to, and by fitting the words to a suitable melody even structures which push back the limerick boundaries as far as mine may be found to have if not the correct, but at least an acceptable ring to them .
Had I been in less of a hurry in order to get back to what was at the time an exceedingly busy limerick and haiku thread situation, I would have noticed that my limerick could have been improved quite easily.
(Excess punctuation also added to show structure more clearly)
As it happens, I've already been there,
It gave me, a bit of, a scare;
My worth do I doubt,
To such academic ,
But anyway, I shall vis-it your lair.
Of course, you can get away with anythinig with such tom foolery, but not with haiku..

Thanks for the lesson, I feel enlightened now.
Btw, go see my Entry that's finally made it to the Front Page! It's "The Vingean Singularity", and I'm mighty proud!

Finally visited your Singularity Entry - wow yes, you should be proud . Very nice indeed.
It would be rather groovy if such an event takes place in our lifetimes, but I am not sure I am enthusiastic about the chances - I am science cynic, unable to see answers due to the number of questions in the way - unless we build a computer powered by questions which does not need answers, hmm
