Hi Zhora,
I'm Jerry, an Englishman living in Scotland, from choice, because I like this country.
I am married to a Glaswegian lass and have been up here for some 15 years now.
Like you I am a sci-fi fan. I like most genres but some leave me cold. I agree on Star-Trek, the X-files, although some were a little too weird. However the best was the radio series which got us all together, THHGTTG. God bless Douglas, may his towel never lose its flavour.
Drop me a line in my home page, JerryDundee, and we could talk books, films, music, etc. I am a child of the sixties and seventies, I read, voraciously, and I like TV, too much! (So says Jackie, the Glaswegian I mentioned)
Apart from us we have an elderly cat, Sabrina. she is now 15 and, like those you are cat sitting, she is now more or less housebound. Dosen't the litter tray pong first thing in the morning! However use bleach in it regularly and keep scooping.
I hope to hear from you soon. Now I'm off to bed. I have to get up for work as I didn't win the lottery, again!
Drop me a line, please.
Jerry
As you may have worked out my name is Jerry and I live in Dundee. I am not clever enough to claim membership of the author's guild. However I am interested in reading just about anything. I also work, part-time, as a proofreader. Hence thi message.
I would be happy to offer my services to any member or friends who have written something and aim to publish it, on the web or in the old-fashioned way on that white stuff, what's it called? Oh yes, paper, in a book!
I am happy to offer this service free, or nearly free, depending on the format. If you e-mail the work to me it will be free, bar your e-mail costs. If it is in manuscript just post it to me and I will amend, if and where necessary, and return it to you. I would then charge you for the postage but not for my time.
No such thing as a free lunch!?
Well, I am trying to build up a client list and you are trying to build up a readership. I scratch your back, you scratch mine. I am a novice at the moment, just a couple of newsletters and small ads under my proofing pen. However the more I do the more experience I gain and then I can bombard the big boys and charge them for my services.
We all need a break and if the amateurs can't help each other then there is really no joy left in the world.
Keep writing and let me check it for you. Ah, but I never make a mistake. Never say never. (That would make a good book title! Hang on, I think that's been done already.)
We all make mistakes and spotting and correcting our own is a very hard job. Let me check and I promise that I will not scold you.
As I said it's free, or nearly free, so what have you got to lose. How many times have you read something and ended up remembering the passage because of the typos and other errors rather than because of the content?
Please leave me a message and we can get together.

Hi Jerry,
Sorry about the late reply. What with one thing and another, there can be a lag between logins for me.
So like me you came to Dundee and didn't escape! Yes, I've been here 20 years , and still don't sound like a native. Then again, I'm from a family of Glaswegians,,,,,
I'm not reading enough at the moment, and trying to catch up with films and things, plus catch up with my friend who likes Gin. Plus, trying to get on top of work. I'm sure I'll get that sussed soon.
Anyway, ta ta the noo, I'd better go and do some real work. More anon
