I saw your comments in the 'Abortion' thread, and thought I would come over and say hello.smiley - smiley

I'm going to be writing up (or possibly another researcher will) the 'Abortion' entry as part of my Women's Health project for the h2g2 University. There's a link on my space, and also back in the aforementioned thread, if you want to take a look. Maybe you would like to contribute to one or more of the entries listed?

Please feel free to e-mail me if you want to with your contribution/comments, and let me know if you wish to be credited (ie as one of the referenced researchers on the finished article(s), for anything else you send me. I imagine that as I will be taking various comments from the thread for 'Abortion: what it is and how to get one' that you would be included in the list anyway. I imagine that particular article will be removed or rewritten by the in-house team, and will certainly be removed from Peer Review now, as the topic is to be included in a uni project.

Anything else I can do to be of any assistance, just let me know. Welcome to the Guide (and I like your homepage).smiley - smiley

Hallo Pegasus,

Thank you for dropping by. Did you mean this homepage here, or that big one, y'know, Elsewhere? smiley - smiley

Yes, would be very interested smiley - bigeyes in contributing to Women's Health project, esp vis-a-vis trauma and dissociation, which we've been studying in a rather up-close-and-personal way (and a distant third/nth/other way) for about nine years now.

Also any discussion of abortion-rights, etc. particularly as re: US laws smiley - steam would be a place where we have info (and contraception issues, and all the yadda yadda...).

Speaking of same... please go to our MetaSite, and go to the page where we store our links, to find out about a certain Internet menace and what some people are trying to do about it. Then tell yer friends. What we need here is numbers, and it doesn't much matter if they're from Java, or Azerbaijan. Sheer outraged numbers is what will make a diff.... smiley - grr mmph snktt. People profiting from domestic violence...pphhbbsstth! smiley - ill

Hi again. I didn't visit your external sites. Geocities aren't they? I'm afraid I make a point of steering well clear of geocities, after contracting a rather nasty virus found on several of their sites. Sorry.smiley - sadface

If you want to contribute anything to any of the entries I have listed for my project, you can do so in the forums of the appropriate entries. If you have an entry you would personally like to write up, which falls under the banner of 'Women's Health' then I can add that to the project too. If you have any specific info on abortion laws and the like in the US (it varies from state to state I believe) then that would be really useful.

Hope that sounds okay.smiley - smiley

smiley - yikes Viruses, at Geocities? That's new on us... Anything is possible, however. At this point, what with h2g2 deleting us from our personal existence every few hours, we're getting just a touch paranoid...smiley - online2long

Will go see your entries and stuff soon. Still recovering from four days in hospital for respiratory arrest (which one would think would mean *keeping* one's breath...) so rather smiley - ill and not functioning on all cylinders.

We would particularly be interested, if there is no one doing such a topic, on writing specifically about multiplicity. Here in the US, there is a Big Book called the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (edition, revision, etc), which explains what different psychological phenomena are [sic], how they manifest, and groups them according to similarities and differences as related to other psychological conditions. What do the shrinks use in the UK? Do they use the DSM-V, (I think we're at V, or possibly V(Rev.)) there too? I do not want to waste a lot of time/energy writing US psychobabble if those codes and terms are not used in other parts of the more-or-less-English-speaking world.

Our 'take' on mp (the preferred abbreviation among multiple people) is not the usual psychological stance, but it is one of the better-recognised, and respected positions on the phenomenon, here in the States. We've got some very confusing info on the Condition of Psychotherapy in the United Kingdom (from 'Antidiluvian' to 'Avant-Garde') and do not really know whether we should just build a discussion from the very ground up, or assume *any* knowledge, and if so, what knowledge? Any advice/suggestions would be very much appreciated. smiley - smiley

Apart from that specific wish, we're happy if we can contribute anything to a Women's Health forum.

Will go see your home 'space' now. Perhaps you can get a friend to use a prophylactic on her/his/its/their modem, and find out about that Internet Menace site another way...

Poor you.smiley - ill Hope you're starting to feel better.smiley - smiley

I'm afraid I know nothing about psychology/pyschotherapy, but I'm sure there are UK researchers on the Guide who could answer your questions about that. The aim of the Guide is, generally, to cover topics in a way that makes them accessible to all, so starting from a point of assuming no knowledge is probably best.smiley - winkeye

Of course, if you wanted to do a linked series of entries (perhaps gradually going into greater depth) you could consider making it a university project of your own. Check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/university if you want to find out more about what's involved. The uni has it's own editing and subbing rules, so projects don't have to go through the normal peer review system.

Thanks. smiley - sleepy. Will look into...

Boy, I hate trying to be as clever as me all the time... smiley - ill it gives us a headache. This h2g2 writing is cutting big-time into my laziness and procrastination regimen. It's causing synapses to fire. smiley - rocket It's causing eyes to feel like boiled onions smiley - online2long.

Could you do me a favour? smiley - choc
Could you go over and have a look at my http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A563456 article Declining English? I'm totally toasted on it, and have no perspective on the subject any more. I'd like to say I think I've done a good job, but the truth is, my mind is knotted from all the collective plural nouns and the trouble with Police smiley - injured and the genitive, and I'm about to parse right out...
