A superpower I didn't know I had.

Apparently I'm really good at predicting who will win the Oscars-- at least, once the show has started and I have gotten a feel for the mood of the Academy. 
I have a theory about "The Fellowship of the Ring". This year, like all other s/f films before it, it did well in technical categories only. It dawned on me that if it swept the really big stuff this year there would be nothing left for the next two installments. Keep an eye on "The Return of the King" in 2004.

Power outages

This is a university campus-- what makes them think that the most logical time to shut down power to a dorm for maintenance purposes is an hour and a half before people's clock radios are set to go off?

The weather around here...

It's pretty unpredictable. We're getting thunderstorms that last for under an hour, but which can be very violent nonetheless (sometimes with tornadoes!). I'm spending a lot of time running around unplugging things and then plugging them back in.
