Hi there 
I read you post on what you notice that others don't, thought I'd bounce over and tell you how I work that. I have the same knack for 'knowing' people quickly. What I've discovered over the last couple of years is that if you don't shut them off as soon as you see the hard stuff and keep your mind open to find the good bits you'll see those too. It makes it a lot easier when you deliberately work with the good stuff in people, kinda like an effective manager will designate more tasks to employee's strengths rather than to their weaknesses.
The way I figure it, everyone is a blend of all sorts of stuff. That 'knowing' can be a wonderful tool when you use it to your fullest potential.
