Howdie Laura,
I thought I should drop in and apologize for the yoghurt, but it is a wonderful line, and until you object I've stolen it (attributed naturally) for my space
I know this is bit of a repeat of what I put in your guest book, but I don't know how often you read that. Thank you for letting me read it, I know you didn't give me explicit permission, but its on the web so the permission is implicit. I know I'm a complete stranger, but it feels strangely as though you're not such to me. The only disagreement I have is with the harsh line poor spelling and or grammar, I have both, but I do come with a ready made excuse; dyslexia, which remained unspotted up to the point where I was doing A-levels. As a result I hated writing and learning to write, I got away with it in classes by having read, and by reasoning (a point of minor interest, my reading vocabulary is limited only by my dictionary, my spoken vocabulary by words I have heard, my written vocabulary by inability to hold spellings in my mind or find any reason in English).
Having read your lists of good music I have seen a couple of things I have yet to hear, and will keep an ear out, might I recommend a couple in return; Moxy Fruvous, and Great Big Sea ?
Anyway this is just a little note to say hello, and I guess I should keep it little as it may be unwelcome, but should you be interested in a potential friendship, question me all you like, I'm willing to debate almost anything (can't think of exceptions at the moment, but caution and honesty is advised in the beginning of things).
I would normally take this moment to mention the Random Quotes Guild which would seem appropriate from your extensive use of quotes on your homepage, but I see you have already found it

Hello my lovelies
How are you? Good, I hope. Thanks for popping round to see me here at my little corner of h2g2, you're more than welcome to pop by here whenever you feel like it.
I took your advice and tried to find some Moxy Fruvous online. I downloaded what was supposed to be an mp3 of them, but I doubt it was as it sounded nothing like the samples at amazon.co.uk. Nonetheless, from what I heard they are quite good, none of that manufactured pop that generally populates today's music industry.
Please don't think I'm weird, but you're Welsh right? So you have a Welsh accent, which is something I love. Welsh people that I've met before thought it strange as you're not supposed to like the welsh acccent or something, well I do. If I'm strange, so be it!
I hope you weren't offended by my comments on spelling and grammar, they were aimed solely at those who do not use the spell checker, I mean it's what it's there for.
So, do you have any ideas for discussion / debate?

Hello
Today finds me feeling pretty good Though I have only just woken up so I have no idea how the day will go from here, other than that after writing this and possibly another post or two I shall have to go shopping or be hungry.
Moxy Fruvous can sound like two different bands, their live stuff is very different to the recorded stuff. Live I listen to them and they are alive in every sense and they are enjoying it, and generally they seem to be having a whole lot of fun. In the studio I think they are a lot deeper, more poetical, and with a cutting edge of darkness to it.
I'm afraid to say I'm not welsh, though I have been living here for twenty years or so, however somehow I have completely failed to pick up the accent. So far in fact no one has been able to tell me where my accent comes from, though I have been told that I am definitely British in my speech.
I have so far found the best of debates come from disagreement at some level (people sitting around say yes you're right after the other speaks is no debate). So I'll present some broad views, and you can pick which ever you think might be interesting, or just ignore them and pick your own topic.
Politics:
Democracy is fatally flawed by its inability to act in the long term.
Dictatorship is as flawed as an individual who seeks power can be, and that is worse than fatal.
Anarchy is an nice idea but unrealistic in view of human nature.
Religion:
A belief in a deity(ies) can be a very positive force in a persons life, however religions are inherently damaging to individuals, societies and beliefs.
Philosophy:
The pointlessness of life has lead me to the conclusion that the only thing in life worth trying to attain is happiness, so go have fun whatever your idea of fun is, bearing in mind that if every ones idea of fun came at someone else's expense, then none of us would be all that happy.
Hope there is something there we can discuss.

Firstly I am so sorry about the length of time it's taken me to get back to you. I've been pretty much without Internet access for alomst a week as I have a wireless connection which doesn't work when it snows - ing piece of
, but hell when it does work it's completely free so I shouldn't really complain!
So I've basically been throwing things at my laptop and pulling my hair out while screaming at the sheer amount of work I've got to do for Uni (and it's all in German - it's really not pretty, to say the least) well it serves me right for not starting it months ago when I got it. Damn procastination!
Okay, so:
Politics:
The main problem with the UK Government is that our "leader" is incapable of leading, instead preferring to follow the path of least resistance (GW Bush and the war on terror spring to mind).
Anarchy has one postive point: the attention grabbing status of those who follow it. It has the ability to convince others that the views are indeed a good idea, however it then lacks the ability to follow through on said plans.
The Monarchy should be abolished. It serves the only purpose of attracting tourism, which as needy a cause as that is, it is not heavy enough to out weigh the pointlessness of it. How can it be seen as equal rights for all when people gain the ability to, effectivly, run a country based on their birth?
Religion:
I am without religion, because it was forced upon me as a child. If one wants to believe in whatever deity it is their own choice, however it should be their own choice once they have reached an age where they are capable of making their own choices without bias.
Philosophy:
I believe that once one has realised that life is futile then one has accomplished the one goal in life.
General Ramblings:
Literature is often as effective as experiencing something for yourself, it is, however, not a replacement.

P.S. I don't use 'one' when I speak only when I write, I don't know why I do it, but it sounds all faux upper-class english.

Hello Laura,
Firstly I feel I must apologize for any shortness in my responce I had nearly finished this when the computer I'm using crashed, also being in work doesn't help my general pleasantness, or my ability to spell as I have no access to a spell checker or dictionary.com (we only recently have been given access to bbc websites and a couple of other sites).
I was worried for a while that I might have caused offence in some way and was being ignored, so I am relieved to hear of your difficulties getting on line as selfish as that is, however I am more pleased to see you back on line. I hope all is going as well, and you have cause to smile some of the time (even if only when mocking people, I make a good target, or so I have been told).
Politics:
Democratic leaders have to have won a popularity contest to be in their position, not have demonstrated any ability to lead, or make good decisions. Naturally seeking popularity means taking the path of least resistance, the more resistance the more bad press, the less likely to be re-elected. It is flaw inherent in democracy rather than something specific to "our leader".
Most of the people I have spoken to who advocate anarchy have in my opinion failed to take into account the competative aspect of human nature, which leads to the desire to be seen as a sucsess, which means to get more, or to have the same for less effort than other people. Though I'm not sure where the attention grabbing comes into it, I would suggest that as a failed idea being pushed by idealists the media grab onto it when there is nothing else to mock, as opposed to democratic politicians who activly seek media attention.
I would suggest the Monarchy needs to be striped of its remaining power, ie that to veto the government and that of being commander in chief of the armed servies. However I believe the UK still needs the income from tourist trade, though I do not believe that this is sufficient to support the ammount that is paid to them.
Religion:
I'm also without any personal belief in any religion, because none was forced upon me and I have been unable to find (or want to find) any reason to take seriously any of the religions I am aware of.
Philosophy:
I wouldn't claim that percieving the pointlessness of life as a goal, I would go so far as to suggest having a goal belies the the pointlessness. However I believe life does have purpose beyond self propigation (well my life at least) of enjoying itself.
Odd thoughts;
Experiancing something yourself is not always as interesting, involving or worthwhile as reading about the experiance.

I honestly have not been ignoring you. I've been backpacking around Europe and have got as far as Amsterdam when I remembered all about h2g2 and how I completely forgot to tell people that I'd be gone for a while. Gotta keep this short as I'm in an Internet cafe, so sorry again.
