h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

...It took me months to come up with one (yes I saw your other conversation). No-one really minded after a while, but it's sometimes a little hard for them to remember you if you don't have one.

Hi, I'm Dancing Ermine (As you can tell by the name at the top of the posting I sorted out the nickname a while ago ) and I'm one of the ACEs (assistent community editors) who have the official voluntary job of meeting and greeting people new to the site (ever feel I use to many brackets?).

Basically all of us ACEs are here to help newbies settle in and answer any questions you might have about the site though a pretty good place to start is the newcomer's welcome page at the originally entitled http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome

Thank you for the kind welcome, Dancing Ermine! I have chosen a nickname (because I forget numbers too easily). I have been searching the site for some of my interests, and I hope to add some articles of my own. My first attempt is on "Castrati in Opera" - I know it's an odd place to start but there didn't seem to be any other article directly about this. I'm going to let it stew for a day or two and then take the plunge -*gasp*- and put it up for peer review.

*wince* Good subject. the guide has some massive gaps still, and probably will continue to have them for years to come, but if people keep coming up with ideas like this for things to go in it will at least contain stuff that no other reference site has. Enough of the spiel though

You know they didn't have an article on the olympic Games untiil september last year(one of mine)

Saw it in peer review. good article, better than a lot I've seen in there and you've picked up GuideML quite easily I see
