you know, it's nice to see that someone else in socal reads good books. i wholeheartedly agree with your list.i've read catch-22 numerous times and was sad to hear of joseph heller's passing a few months back. i am also a fan of the work of mario puzo who wrote the godfather, fortunate pilgrinm, etc. he's dead, too. it would appear that i am running out of favorite authors now that douglas adams is dead. read the color purple by alice walker. in some respects, it is a brutal novel becasue of the things it depicts, but it is also a beautiful novel and those things which are ugly and unpleasant are a part of reality, and make the beauty that much deeper. it has some awesome things to say about nature and the spirit. it's probably the one of the three things i most agree with on that subject aside from the movie dogma and the writings of the dalai lama. still life with woodpecker by tim robbins is awesome, too, in the sort of strange and satirical vein. from your profile you sound like a pretty neat human being. and there's probably a lot about college that you will like. especially in san fransisco, which is an awesome city. i went there once and two homeless men were making a large peace sign out of spare change on the sidewalk. ~~~glitter-bat, though in some circles i am called anne

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
