Stupidity In Government
Posted Jun 5, 2001
Ladies and gentlemen, I'll keep tonights rant short. I work at a local hunting and fishing supply store. I spend a large part of my day selling hunting and fishing licenses for the great state of California. It never dawned on me to realy read them until today. There are two basic kinds of hunting and fishing licenses in California, resident and non-resident. Someone buying a non-resident license is a person who does not live in California, therefor, on the non-resident hunting or fishing licenses, the buyer is asked to identify their state of residence. A resident is a person who does live in the state of California. So would someone kindly explain to me why the Department of Fish and Game feels it necessary to waste time and space on resident hunting and fishing licenses by asking the buyer to identify their state of residence. Maybe I'm missing something here, maybe there is method to the maddness. Somehow however, I think the moron who designed these delightful little pieces of paper was suffering from a case of Rectal-Cranial-Inversion. Who knows? Tell me what you think. I look forward to hearing from you. If you have other glaring examples of government stupidty, please don't hesitate to share them.

Take Your Censorship and Shove It!
Posted Apr 23, 2001
Well folks, another day another rant. This time I think I'll take an opportunity to address the social travesty known as censorship. The dictionary defines a censor as, "one appointed to examine books, plays newspaper articles, etc. before publication, and ban them if containing anything objectionable..." Therefore censoring is the act of not allowing the general public to decide for themselves what is or is not objectionable. Censoring is the act of a governing system once again telling the governed that they are not capable of determing what they should or should not see or hear. Censorship is an insidious evil that allows the governing systems to control the flow of information and ideas. It is one of the first steps to totalitarianism. If you can control what people see and hear, you can eventually control what they think. Hand-in-hand with censorship goes propaganda. Propaganda is defined by the dictionary as, "the spreading and continuing of doctrines and priciples..." And again you must ask who establishes the doctrine, the people or the governing system? So good people, today I ask you to stand with me in telling the governing systems of the world to let us think for ourselves. Let us decide for ourselves what is or is not objectionable. Stand with me folks in telling the governing systems to take thier censorship and shove it up their collective A***S!

Another Day Another Rant
Posted Apr 21, 2001
Well folks, here I am again, ready to rant on about nothing important. I have made an enormous discovery today. I think that this discovery, with a bit of research and investigation could possibly be the most significant finding since the internal combustion engine. Are you ready? if you're standing, you might want to sit down. Here it is. People who talk on cell phone while driving are complete and total a***s. Aren't you just shocked to hear this revalation? Wait a minute, are you tewlling me that you already know this? Are you telling me that this is nothing new? O.K. then, please tell me why people continue to drive thier cars and talk on cell phones at the same time. Has nobody eplained to these people that what they are in is a car and not a phone booth? Has noone explained to these people that by talking on the cell phone and driving they are 2 times more likely to cause an accident than a drunk driver. People, if you must have cell phone with you when you're in the car, and thier is no way the call can wait, pull off the G*d D****d road. There are other people on the road who would like to get to their destination alive despite your best efforts to the contrary.

My First Rant
Posted Apr 18, 2001
Well folks here it is, my first rant. I thought I would start with one of my pet peeves. I am a practicing athiest. I enjoy a quiet life of non religious bliss. I try to live a good life. I try to do what is right, and I try not to do what is wrong. I behave this way not because of any promise of a reward, ie. Heaven, or promise of punishment, ie. Hell. When given a choice of doing the right thing, or doing the wrong thing, I try to do the right thing for the reward of KNOWING what I did is right. My gripe is when people tell me that despite this, I am a bad person because I don't believe in God or Allah or any other mythical deity. Someone please tell me why a persons actions can't speak for themselves. Why is it that no matter how good of a person I am, and how good my deeds are, I'm still considered a, "BAD" person. What ever happened to the idea that actions speak louder than words. I personaly am more inclined to measure a persons worth by the actions I am able to observe, than by hearing them tell me that they are a Christian. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Christians, Muslims, Catholics, Jews, or members of any other religious groups are bad. I just think that people should be judged by what they do, not whether or not they go to church and pray to a god.
