Day Two - Achey and Angry and Stuck

I woke up this morning aching in every muscle - and especially in my arms and back. I won't be doing another day like yesterday any time soon. I made it to 5,003 words, but it left me feeling like a wrung out rag. Or, should I say, a WRAG.
WRAG is the "Work-Related Activity Group", which is part of the new "Employment Support Allowance", Incapacity Benefit as was. I have been assessed as someone who "could get work in the future given the right support". Or, in other words, a faker. Someone who, with a bit more pressure brought to bear and a few lessons in the power of positive thinking, will be magically all better and able to hold down a job like a real person instead of sitting around in front of the TV all day, which is, of course, what I do now.
I got a response from the DWP about my appeal, in which they told me that the original decision remained unchanged. I very much doubt that they read my letter, as they didn't refer to any of the points I raised, nor did they answer any of the questions I asked. I phoned them to ask the questions directly, and got put through to the department of "I don't know" and "we don't deal with that here". I'd phone back and try again, but I'm utterly exhausted. I can just about type this, but I'm moving at a snail's pace. Talking is out of the question right now, even thinking is getting hard.
On the writing front, I've hit a snag. I've realised that I need to completely re-structure the way the story is told, moving most of what I wrote yesterday into the middle of the book, and writing a brand-new opening. There's eleven hours of today left, and I'm already sleepy. I wanted to write four thousand words, and it's been like pulling teeth to get to 800.
Today has not been good so far. I shall sing the ancient Betelgeuse death anthem, and march on into the afternoon.

Day one - so far, so hoopy

I passed the "official" daily target of 1,667 words at around 10a.m, and am now working towards me personal day-one goal of 6k. It seems a bit ambitious, as I'm only 2,500 words in and I'm already bunking off.
I've got eight-and-a-half hours left in which to write three-and-a-half thousand words, which is five hundred words an hour for seven hours. So, I've got to spend most of the rest of the day writing my novel - and not writing journal posts. Right? Right.
So, why am I still here? And why did I spend most of the last five hours watching iPlayer, checking Skype and browsing the NaNoWriMo forums? The challenge is less than one day old, and I'm already procrastinating!!
ARGH!
*closes down internet and opens text editor*

Writing

I have been a member of Writing.com since May 11th 2006, and put some of my writings up for consideration. I would reccommend this site to anyone who likes to write and wants to take it further, and to anyone who likes to review new writers. Also, experienced writers who would be willing to critique the efforts of newbies. Since everyone uses pen-names even published writers can offer advice without being identified and bombarded with fan mail!

Long time, no see

It's been a while since I logged on here - I've been busy setting up my new business. Yes - if you know anyone in the WEst Midlands who needs a bookkeeper, let me know.
I have recently discovered Jasper Fforde and will be putting together an entry on him as soon as I get a minute (or several
