Kiteman,
My work in that particular cesspit is done.

Like the last time you said that Sam?
Are you lying this time like every other time you said you wouldn't return to the science boards?

Andrew Briggs Posted Sep 13, 2005
And what "work" would that be, exactly? What, you see yourself as being on some sort of evangelical mission to convert the heathens?
If so, I have to tell you that you've done a spectacularly bad job. All you've done on the Science messageboards is to demonstrate to everybody what true ignorance is.
If your "work" there is truly done, it is truly cause for celebration.
And if you do reappear there, as you normally do after similar pronouncements, may we quote you?

"My work in that particular cesspit is done."
Actually, it's been smelling a lot better since your final (we hope) departure.
Some blame the cesspit for the smell, but I think it's actually the stench of financial corruption. Cor, what a stink.
The wean.

By the way is anyone disappointed with the new boards?
Merging most of the science boards seems to begs chaos.

Delighted to! Especially in his own back yard
Six Day Sam, Six Day Sam,
You all know, that’s who I am!
Can’t you see how blind you are,
The earth doesn’t orbit round a star.
I can state it quite emphatic,
Because I know the earth is static.
The earth is one gigantic fixture,
Nailed in space, just like a picture!
The sun it orbits round us all,
And must keep going, so it won’t fall!
The planets and each other star,
Also orbit from afar.

Even though I am myopic,
I know everything about this topic.
Because my spectacles suffice,
To read but one book’s good advice.
Never mind the contradiction,
That stems from this work of fiction.
Don’t let the facts dissuade,
You from the statements that I made.
With observations I disagree,
Because I am a YEC!
Hiya Sam! Welcome back!

Hi Andrew
It's one I originally put on the BBC site, I thought it appropriate to post it here!
Also gives it a wider audience

Clever song.
But I echo Andrew Briggs query. What work?

Apparently not, since (according to Sam) only those who are somehow chosen personally by God will be saved. This is the bit I've never understood. If you need to be specifically chosen by God then why preach about it? Is it simply to thumb your nose at all those who don't have a hope in Hell of ever being saved? Just trying to make them feel bad? Just pointing out that I'm saved and you're not?
According to Sam there is absolutely NOTHING any of us can do to be saved like he is . . . we need to be chosen by God. So then, why the preaching bit?
Most evangelical fanatics are totally into converting others to their belief, but this doesn't seem to be the case with Sam (and his pal, Justin). So if it's not about converting . . . then WTF?
Very weird, to say the least.

There's a limerick about predestination! (An old one, not my original)

There was a young man who said damn!
it seems I know what I am.
A being that moves,
In predestinate grooves,
Not a bus or a car, but a tram!
