And ego.

"Actually I am 19; "
Is that so. I seem to recall you claiming to be 21 last year. Do you have a portrait in the attic perhaps?

There will be a lot of people who would want him to look at it then.

Err, in the context of Harry Potter, you're supposed to find it offensive in a racist way. That's the *point*.

You are right and I am totally wrong.
I have avoided said books for the reasons I previously gave and only picked up on something I sensed in the parochial/archaic terms and references the books use without knowing as you and someone else have pointed out that they were meant to provoke such reaction and that the author does not support such views.
I stand corrected. Thank you Kerr.

I quite like the HP books... even though J K Rowling is a stinky feckin' plagarist!

Sam, I think you will find that you are talking bollocks.

"So what I lack in years I have more than made up for in experience."
Judging from your posts over the last year or so there's one experience you desperately need and, thus far, obviously lack.

"sorry Sam, you can't put social anthropology and Physics in the same category."
He can. But he'd be wrong to do so. But then being wrong comes naturally to Sam.

Well, perhaps not 'stinky' but I do think she owes a lot to Mr Pratchett for starters.
Meanwhile, Sam is behaving like the Christian Voice who protested against the Jerry Springer Opera being shown on BBC without ever actually seeing it.
Sam, why not read one of the books before condemning it? Are you afraid you might actually enjoy it?

How odd - how can witchcraft be defined as the worship of a being who was not invented until several thousand years after witchcraft started?
It strikes me that all the "suffer not a witch to live" hooha was just an attempt to get rid of the competition, rather like Virgin asking all its users to stamp on O2 phones.

"Suffer not the witch to live" didn't appear in the bible until the King James version and was only included to placate James' own prejudices.

I know the Lord God; the rest of you clearly do not. He says that all witches / sorcerers burn, along with all others who have failed to repent and come to grace.

*How* exactly do you know?
You are reading the exact same book as many on this site, why do you think that you *alone* know the truth about what God thinks or means? Isn't that presumptious?

Funny, I was just chatting to god the other day. He says you're an asshole.

Yeah, I didn't want to mention it, because I thought it would hurt your feelings Sam, but he actually said something along those lines to me too. Maybe you should go sit down and have a chat with him, and try to work things out, before you two develop irreconcilable differences.

Aaaaaaaaahhhh-hahahahahahahahahaha! Brilliant!
GrandSamDonald, me ol' son, put yourselves in our shoes. If someone were to proclaim to you they knew God and talk to him, wouldn't you think they were a total nutter? You simply wouldn't believe them would you?
Therefore I'm going to join the ranks:
The Flying Spaghetti Monster visited me today and touched me with his Noodly Appendage.
Loony.

But have you got any proof that the witch line appeared before King James? I've read up on this and the King James bible was merely a compromise between the Puritans, the Anglicans and the Crown all of which had their own version of the Bible. King James wrote Demonologie which was basically a big chunk of anti-witch propaganda. Coincidence? I think not.
