It was my first episode. Or little bit of one. In all honesty, I probably won't watch any more unless it's the only thing on TV - it seems a little wearing and the new voices still bother me (since I didn't watch anything avidly past Johto - difficult when TV stations stop showing it, then they show it out of order!)

Oh. At least you can tell me your feelings on Dawn vs. May.
Anime
Katzii Posted Feb 25, 2008
I'll have to think back to some May episodes, since I pretty much stopped watching after Misty left!
On the upside, I'm getting my third DVD set of Indigo League in the mail soon which should make the whole series complete.
Anime
Infinite Improbability Posted Feb 28, 2008
So it takes three sets. I'd hate to think how many sets all of Johto would take.
Anime
Katzii Posted Mar 1, 2008
Haha, you and me both.
I know they're releasing the Orange Islands sets too, maybe they'll do Johto after that. I got my set in the mail yesterday, I'm imagining it to be the same bare bones fare of the other two. But it's nice to own the lot!

Well, good luck with that. When do you find the time to watch all of those discs?
Anime
Katzii Posted Mar 5, 2008
I've gotten through the first disc, and just finished Snow Way Out on the next one (as well as spotted the glaring continuity error in terms of the episode order - how can two episodes that feature Charmander in them occur AFTER Ash has just gotten his eight badges, including the Cinnabar Island battle with Charizard??!).
It's pretty standard fare. The episodes each have a Pikachu's Jukebox at the end, but it seems to be the same one for several episodes before moving to a new one.
As for the time? After work, usually. When I'm not gaming, I'm normally drawing. I like to pop in a DVD to watch while I do so, and it's currently Pokémon.

Ah, the Jukebox. I miss those, but I suppose I miss the Pokemon Karaokemon's more. Two Perfect Girls, Team Rocket's Rocket, and so forth.
Anime
Katzii Posted Mar 9, 2008
The Team Rocket one was a Karaokemon song, I thought.. But Two Perfect Girls was indeed a classic.

One thing I've wondered about from time to time was what it would've been like to see the Pokemon Live stage show.
Anime
Katzii Posted Mar 10, 2008
They unfortunately(?) cancelled the tour over here. I was going to go and everything!
Anime
Infinite Improbability Posted Mar 10, 2008
One thing that sticks out to me is a review that says that the stage show proves that anime characters, especially Pokemon characters, often wear clothes that would be impractical or not as attractive in real life.
Anime
Katzii Posted Mar 12, 2008
I can see where they'd be coming from. I shudder to think of someone in Misty's short shorts, haha.
Anime
Infinite Improbability Posted Mar 14, 2008
The prime example, I'm sure.
I suppose a close runner-up is the ridiculous anime hair (not necessarily Pokemon or Digimon, but other stuff). Neither of the explainations for those hairstyles seems pleasant. You either have to sleep in that thing if it's natural, or spend hours every day with hairgel? Not to mention all of that hairdye.
Speaking of Pokemon clothes, however, I have to say again that I miss Ash's original Kanto outfit. Especially that collector's hat that Mankeys find so attractive, hehe.
Anime
Katzii Posted Mar 26, 2008
Haha, exactly! I remember wanting to make a comic about my own character who has pretty ridiculous hair, and just how long realistically it'd take her to get that hairdo in the morning!
And yeah.. I miss the original outfit, too.. The others are nice variations and all, but I felt that it just changed for me, personally, when the outfits did. Even more so when Misty left! I took her for granted, methinks.

I have to admit, though, that Misty's Hoenn outfit did look a lot more appropriate for a Gym Leader. I suddenly wonder, though. Why WAS she fishing near Pallet Town in the first place? I get the implication that she somehow already has some sort of Gym Leader qualifications, and she has her own Pokemon already, and no doubt the Cerulean Gym has lots of Water Pokemon that she can borrow by virtue of the face that she's a Waterflower (I wish they had said that this is her last name). So why fish?
Anime
Katzii Posted Apr 5, 2008
Perhaps she was just looking for more Pokémon of her own in towns a little more further afield than Cerulean? She is qualified to take on the Gym, given her battle with Ash as well as going back to the Gym to stay back in Master Quest, but perhaps she just wanted some new Pokémon to train up, whether they were for herself or for the benefit of the Gym.

It still seems weird that she got her bike fixed (and at no cost, apparently) when just getting a new one would be so much easier.
Anime
Katzii Posted Apr 7, 2008
Well, Nurse Joy was the one to fix her old bike (goodness knows HOW, though). On top of which, seeing as it wasn't her fault that her bike got broken (it happened after Ash "borrowed" it), she quite rightly expected Ash to pay out the expense for it, which is why she followed him around all the time.
At least until they became friendly with each other, then she accompanied him for that reason.

It was Nurse Joy? I must've forgotten that part. Quite understandable, given that it was what, five seasons ago? Okay, let's think...there were three seasons of Advanced proper, plus a year of Battle Frontier, and we're in season two of Diamond and Pearl now? Not that we have D&P here (on broadcast TV anyway)...
Then again, I sometimes wonder how so many Nurse Joys can pick up these extra occupations when they (appear to) have to spend every waking hour in the Pokemon Center.
